About this deal

While we can’t look forward to a trip to Japan right now, it’s comforting to know we can have a box containing their traditions and culture delivered to our doorstep to enjoy at home. What I liked about my Sakuraco box I’m usually not a fan of seaweed, but I absolutely loved the Kobukoro mochi, which are flavored with the umami Hokkaido kobu, which is type of seaweed. Delicious! Hana Warabimochi (Kyoto) originated during the Edo period and were made as an offering to the gods at Shinto shrines. This is a jelly like dessert with salted cherry blossoms. Rich Ogura Bread Loaf (Saitama) is a cake like bread filled with swirls of ogura which is an azuki bean jam.

Each monthly box is different and representative of Japan's seasonality. Here's what was inside my box. I received the Moonlit Sakuraco box. This May box is all about the beauty of nighttime Sakura. I loved my time in Japan during the cherry blossom festival, so what better time to celebrate Hanami than with the Sakuraco box.

What’s In My Box?

However, the tendency towards sweet nibbles fits their concept of providing a tea-time experience. | Image credit Honest Food Talks Mochi, manju and yokan are types of Japanese wagashi (traditional sweets). They can be served with green tea to prepare the palate. We all know the distinct seasons influence Japanese life. Enjoy treats themed around the seasons such as sakura for spring months and momiji (autumn leaves) for autumn months. Japanese Home Goods In our opinion, the homeware you get in each Sakuraco subscription box is not cheap and is of good quality. We've received items like bowls, glassware and plates before and they all felt sturdy and built to last. I am beyond excited to share my experience with Sakuraco, a Japanese sweets and candy box that brings the authentic taste of Japan right to your doorstep. You know me, I love everything Japan and when it comes to Japanese food and Japanese desserts, I'm the first to get excited.

Mini Plum Mochi is another favourite. I basically opened the small box and ate them all in one sitting. I'm not even ashamed to admit this. My Sakuraco box contained Yoshino Kuzumochi, a chewable yet jelly-like mochi dessert topped with Okinawan brown sugar syrup and roasted soy bean flour, a real treat. Mini Plum Mochi (Aichi) are old-fashioned plum mochi candies that are super addictive and so delicious. They are retro, yet very much still loved Japanese sweets that remind most people of childhood memories. For example, in one month we received Genmaicha sourced from Hokkaido. Meanwhile, during spring, we received an amazingly fragrant sakura tea, which went great alongside their sakura Japanese sweets. The Japanese teas offered will also vary depending on the monthly theme. There is also a stellar variation of seasonal teas that are hard to find outside Japan. For instance, the smooth-textured Yamagarashi Aged Sencha with tart-like undertones.

Another common criticism we see about Sakuraco is that the traditional homeware and souvenirs they include are cheap. Some people on Reddit have mentioned that theirs have broken or feel like plastic. The Ogura bread loaf was a family favourite here. I cut it into small slices to ensure we pace ourselves, but I kinda fought my husband for the last bite. I do love azuki bean jam in just about everything, and it reminded me of some Tokyo street foods I love. Having said that, you might get similar munchies from the previous year. Even so, the repeat items generally only appear once and the entirety of the theme is different. Is the Homeware Cheap Quality? Sakuraco offers a variety of subscription plans tailored to suit your needs, providing both flexibility and savings. As explained, most treats in this mystery box are hard to find in convenience stores. This factor makes the Sakuraco subscription box exclusive, especially for Western audiences. My Kawagoe day trip from Tokyo article has all the details. Loved, loved, loved the Sakura arare which reminded me of our trip to Fushimi Inari Shrine. That was the first time I tasted something akin to arare. It was a trip down memory lane. How much does sakuraco box cost
