About this deal

As usual, I put the trainer up against a number of power meters to see how well it handled everything from resistance control accuracy, to speed of change, to any other weird quirks along the way. Then i found out you can update the divice using Upgrado, did that as well. Curently at Firmware 194 & Hardware revision 001. Although, with that said, the ERG mode wasn’t as aggressive as the Elite’s and it was possible to ride without any additional resistance from climbs or the ERG mode without spinning out – so the Volt 2 does have some positives over the Zumo. Well, let’s start in ERG mode, and then work our way out of that. For ERG mode I’m using the small chainring as recommended (and mid-way up the cassette), so that lowers the flywheel speed, and typically makes it easier for trainers to respond. In any case, here’s the full data set from the same workout above. This is compared to a Quarq DZero power meter, PowerTap G3 hub power meter, and a pair of SRM X power meter pedals. Here’s the full data set:

The instructions to replace the board are… kind of garbage (try to find where the pictures are located: link to elitesrl.zendesk.com)

CADENCE

Forskellen mellem Elite Tuo og almindelige hjultrænere ligger primært i teknologien og designet. Elite Tuo er også kendt for sin kompatibilitet med træningsapps og interaktive funktioner, der gør træningen mere engagerende. Wahoo: ANT+ FE-C on all smart trainers. Gives developers access to private Wahoo Bluetooth Smart control, no proper FTMS support yet.

As for the maximum power, the Tuo offers up to 1,300 Watts, which should also be more than enough for most people. 4. CONNECTIVITY See my full review for details but it remains the best value in budget, wheel-on smart trainers – not only the cheapest, but with wide support and compatibility (especially after Tacx was swallowed by Garmin). Part of the value prop is the included front wheel riser that, uniquely, doubles as part of the storage system: it clips onto the trainer when not in use and has a built-in handle for carrying the whole unit, with the legs folded up. A non-smart trainer will give you an adjustment knob to up or reduce the resistance yourself. But a smart trainer will vary resistance automatically, which opens up a much more interesting experience when you link your trainer up to Zwift, Wahoo X or any one of a number of indoor training apps. Sort of like my scale in the bathroom. I don’t care if it says I am heavier by 10 pounds so long as I am consistently 10 pounds heavier.

While the NEO 2T did have some initial accuracy issues when it was first announced, those were largely resolved in subsequent firmware updates to my satisfaction. Hey Ray. You might tweak the “entry level” units section – the wording seems identical to previous years’ where multiple trainers were on the list (“…this is the one category I don’t have a ton of riding time on either of those units. Both of them have been at trade shows or the like…”) but there’s only ONE on the list now. The Tuo is slightly more complicated. Due to its highly aesthetic design, there are many parts that need to be put together but it will take you about 5 minutes if you follow the instructions correctly. This isn’t an issue if you only free-ride in events and the like with the realism on, and it’s not an issue if you only ride in ERG mode (plenty of resistance can be provided there). But this is an issue for those who like the mental challenge of consciously holding a set wattage, and this is also an issue that Elite turbos have had problems with in the past – not the aforementioned Direto, which was fine, but the lower-end wheel-on Tuo.
