Made from animal-friendly treated timber, solid tongue and groove assembly, designed to last for years I live in an area with a mild winter and a decent amount of rain throughout the year, so perhaps this coop is not suitable for wet climates?? The handle to open and close the pop hole door has had to be repaired, as one of the screws attached to the door came loose and fell out. The external run area is around 1.7 m 2 (18.3 square feet) and features two roosting perches fitted (lifted) at the height level of the internal door. A long removable ramp makes it easy for your hens to get in and out of the hen house via the solid sliding door.

If you live outside these areas then unfortunately, we are unable to offer delivery due to the high extra charges levied by the courier companies we use. You are welcome to arrange your own courier to collect from us, or we can deliver the items to a courier up north for onward journey to you. I bought this coop over summer in 2020, my girls moved in September 2020, and I wanted to wait to review until I gave it some use. This is my experience after 7 months of use. The raised roosting and nesting area of the Dorset Coop will hold 5 to 6 medium-sized birds quite comfortably. The combination of new and well-established materials to create the most practical and aesthetically pleasing design If the coop is treated, to begin with, and thereafter on a yearly basis, and is well looked after and cleaned regularly there is no reason why a lifespan of 5 to 7 years could not be expected.

All parcels will be shipped together but could arrive separately, depending on how the courier organises their daily deliveries I made a cover from clear roofing panels that sits the length of the coop. Too much water was getting in when it rained and even though I added varnish, the hen house still leaked. I have had to fix the ladder leading to the hen house three times, as the hardware hooks are not sturdy and pulled out of the wood.

Most door openers on the market work with doors that open in an up/down direction (pop-hole doors). Our Devon Hen House has a pop-hole door and has been specifically designed so it can be fitted with any one of these automatic door openers. We unfortuntely don't have an automatic door opener that can work on the sliding door of the Dorset.
