About this deal

Scenario & Occasions: Always. For dates, office, leisure time... You can wear it all year round; just avoid very hot days. In the beginning Rochas was Mr Marcel Rochas. “Every current event is an excuse for me to create,” he once said. The woman, the era, the intuition… were all just right. An eye kept on a fast-changing world to accelerate the movement. This was the almost obsessional quest of the man who freed fashion from convention in the early 20th century, transforming it into a lesson in radiance and beauty for the next 30 years. I've seen this one before, and the Moustache. And I wonder how Rochas could bang out this chemical sauce after that wonderful, lush, sophisticated scent. Hurts my heart, and my nose. Uarghigittigitt ...!"

MASS APPEAL: 8/10. Vanilla in the opening to pull you in, and smoky goodness in the dry down, hard to go wrong with. When applied, L’Homme Rochas shows that it came to fight with the competition. And here, I'm not referring to the pineapple note, so get the first image out of your mind when you read the composition notes. In fact, creating a masculine fragrance for Rochas without using lemon or bergamot on top was, in fact, an act of courage. Performance on this is decent as it lasts 6-10 hours but it doesn’t project a lot and is mainly a scent bubble type of scent that makes it a perfect work scent !! Fragrances remain the most important product of the Rochas brand, and Rochas has employed its own in-house perfumer, Jean-Michel Duriez, since 2008. This is the fragrance i reach for when i have no idea what to wear, it never dissapoints and just smells amazing, i love the blood orange note in this too." When I first smelled Tuxedo, I thought, if this was just a bit smoother and less complex, I could easily imagine it being a Chanel Les Exclusif (which are famously elegant, smooth, and not super complex, spicy, or dirty). Moustache, in my opinion, does exactly that. It brings the scent profile closer to a Chanel—at the very least a designer Chanel like Egoiste. Or something like Dior Spice Blend.

OCCASIONS: Formal events, outdoor gatherings, casual, holidays, romantic, dating. This fragrance is office friendly. But the stronger spice in Moustache makes it smell more old-school, where Tuxedo is so finely blended along with Ambergris which makes it smell next-gen. Style or nothing! What matters is cutting a fine figure, the famous beautiful drape of the clothes. Rochas invented the basque, designed the mermaid evening gown, liberated women’s bodies with his ¾ coats and square shoulders, and created the Bird dress inspired by the artists of his day. Timeless classics that the couturier reinvented for every season. It’s noticeable for the first couple of hours then becomes a skin scent. More ‘masculine’ if you define scent by sex. It’s in the same realm as Sauvage, One Million and countless of those spicy citrus fragrances. I get ZERO pineapple. Two notes for me… Orange and Ginger … although at the very end there’s a sweaty herbal/soapy vibe. Lasts longer sprayed onto clothing. This is completely different on my arm. The initial blast of a creamy coconut-y scent in the air was more sharp, minty and citrusy on my arm. That was a complete left turn for me.

Rochas L’Homme is not the best creation I have ever smelled, but it is very skillfully composed. It is easy to wear and very contemporary, but with several hidden layers waiting to be peeled off. A nice addition to a usual grim ambroxane fragrance scene. Livin’ on the edge of an abyss. The extra spice leans Mustache more toward an old-school scent vibe vs Tuxedo which has more of the creamier note to it. I don't know what that 'creamier' note is, but i assumed it was Ambergris, and it's amazing! The perfumer responsible for the fragrance was Bruno Jovanovic. This time, he gave life to a modern oriental-fougére, bringing the refreshing and juicy side of blood orange with the pineapple, which receives a generous dose of cardamom, giving an aromatic touch, right on the output. Then, juniper berries, basil essence, and geranium come together, in the heart, revealing a gin accord, full of freshness and balsamic facets. Finally, the base comes with notes of tonka beans, moss, and patchouli, which end up generating sweeter and, at the same time, slightly smoky nuances. This fragrance is very Weak & Diluted by 2019 standard. I can see why a 70yrs old grandpa whine about how sweet Rochas Man is, but from today's point of view, it is SO WEAK it is NOT a gourmand. Don't believe the HYPE, and don't listen to anyone older 40yrs old.

The woody is strong in the base but let other note play forefront. It’s almost boozy but feel like afternoon tea at the same time.

The bottle of L'Homme Rochas comes in a dark blue hue accented with sleek stripes. It is available as a 40, 60 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. Spiced Rose + Orange + Cedarwood (ISO-E Super) + Musk + Hint of White Vanilla Absolute + lots of Ethanol On my skin it changes from fruity fresh to spicy-synthetic after about 90 minutes into a warm, through Tonka also sweetish scent. In this phase he acts almost romantic What I already noticed with other fragrances, L'Homme describes a bit of a daily routine.

THIS is the fragrance that convinced me that great smells have no gender and ignited my love for coffee as a dominant fragrance note. I love this fragrance. Playful, bright, fresh and warm. Everything you want from a fragrance is on display here with Moustache. Orange, rose and vanilla run through the opening of this fragrance and then get grounded down with some great cedar and a crazy dynamic duo of benzoin and patchouli that give off a slight amber vibe. When Moustache gets sprayed you feel like a real saucy chap and I do not know why but this fragrance makes me wish for rounded spectacles that would compliment my own mustache (let's face it twirling your mustache with proper accessories only makes you look more cunning, daring or cool) ! This scent has a nice youthful edge but is nicely refined and mature(simply put; classy!). Moustache dresses up or down and could be worn for any occasion. Office safe but why trap this fragrance in there when this could be shared while greeting friends on a fun excursion or event. Give Moustache a few sprays when: Love this juice. Can see myself wearing it all throughout Autumn and the first 1/3 of Winter before it gets too cold. Don't know why I waited so long to add this to my collection! L'Homme Rochas belongs to the olfactory Amber-Fougère family that combines fresh citrus notes with warm aromatic tones. It offers accords of bitter orange, pineapple, cardamom and oriental spices, notes of basil, geranium and juniper berries, complemented by a base of moss and tonka.

The benzoin is a touch darker and more leathery than I expected, so I see where people are coming from when they say it’s similar to Bentley For Men Intense. Definitely not a direct alternative—but this feels like a lighter, more wearable (and better) version of that. I started my review in this way because the first thought that came to my mind when I tested this gem was, “Oh Rochas, Rochas, where have you been until now?” Well, as I am getting old, I don’t remember if I came across an original edition in the past, or if it happened, but now I don’t remember the smell. The fact is that in this review I will limit myself to telling the sensations that the version I own gives me without making comparisons with the original version. I have to thank @HugoMontez because it is thanks to his review that I came across this barely unknown precious gem. Or rather, I knew the perfume and its feminine counterpart, and I often saw it on the shelves, but I associated it with the common fresh and citrusy eau de cologne and therefore I did not even pay a glance to it. The @HugoMontez review opened my eyes and mind wide, and so I ran into the shop to try, and immediately buy, this masterpiece. Here we go.
