About this deal

You are doing a great job, it can't be easy for you at the mo. Do you have a pump? If you are aiming to continue to breastfeed pumping will prob help keep it going until the tongue-tie is sorted -would recommend trying to get to a breastfeeding clinic Monday for support. Giving him formula now sounds as its best for both of you, to give you time to recover! If expressing works for you then you could give that by bottle instead.

Breastfeeding is best for babies. Infant formula is suitable from birth when babies are not breastfed. Follow-on milk is only for babies over 6 months, as part of a mixed diet and should not be used as a breastmilk substitute before 6 months. We advise that all formula milks including the decision to start weaning should be made on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, public health nurse, dietitian, pharmacist or other professional responsible for maternal and child care, based on baby’s individual needs.Approx. age: 2-4 weeks, Approx. weight: 3.9kg, 8 1/2lb, Single feed: 120ml, No of feeds per 24 hours: 5-6

Regarding the starter bottle, if he only takes a small amount, can it be used for a later feed tonight? How long does it last? The starter bottles only have an hour on them from the bottle but in the early days I used to tip what wasnt needed into a sterilised bottle and pop in the fridge for later. I understand how frustrating it can be my 6eknold has just been diagnosed with tongue tie and I'm so so sore, lansinoh has been my best friend until now, his latch has become so much stronger and I'm ready to give up and can't wait soon enough for the referral to come through. I found the best way to help with sore nipples was to squeeze a little milk onto them and let them air dry. They healed so much better than any creams and also cold Savoy cabbage leaves in your bra. Store in a cool, dry place. Bottles should remain in the box or in a dark place to protect the contents from light.Aptamil First Infant Milks are nutritionally complete and can be used as part of combination feeding or as a sole source of nutrition from birth. Approx. age: 5-6 months, Approx. weight: 7.6kg, 16 3/4lb, Single feed: 210ml, No of feeds per 24 hours: 5-6 I'm really struggling to breast feed my 1 week old boy at the moment due to bleeding nipples and he was diagnosed with a tongue tie yesterday. He has been hysterical today, fighting me when I try to get him to latch on, so my hubby has just suggested using a starter bottle of aptamil we bought just in case. I'm sat here devastated watching him drink a bottle and feel like a failure. I'm so scared my milk will dry up. I think I may even have mastitis in one boob so I'm going to try and express now. Big hugs Emma. If you are set on breastfeeding please don't be put off, it was a roller coaster for me too, in the beginning. I would definitely recommend finding out where your local breastfeeding support group is and go there, they helped me so much when I was stressing that I was starving my baby. Aptamil and Cow and Gate are sister companies so you may find ingredients to be similar. You can read on Cow and Gate products here.

To warm the feed, stand sealed bottle in hot water. Remember to test the temperature on your wrist before feeding the baby. Approx. age: 4-8 weeks, Approx. weight: 4.7kg, 10 1/2lb, Single feed: 150ml, No of feeds per 24 hours: 5-6 Don't feel like a failure your certainly not. However no exactly how you feel as I had the same, and after a few tearful days I came to conclusion bottle feeding was my only option.

Approx. age: 1 week*, Approx. weight: 3.5kg, 7 3/4lb, Single feed: 30-70ml, No. of feeds per 24 hours: 6 Approx. age: 2-4 weeks, Approx. weight: 3.9kg, 8 1/2lb, Single feed: 120ml, No. of feeds per 24 hours: 5-6 the amount you express is not a reflection of how much you are producing as baby is much more efficient than a pump. Looking at baby or a picture and smelling something they have worn will help with the letdown. Your baby may need more or less than the feeding guide above. This information is given as a guide only. Consult your healthcare professional if you require more advice. Approx. age: 1 week*, Approx. weight: 3.5kg, 7 3/4lb, Single feed: 30-70ml, No of feeds per 24 hours: 6
