About this deal

She is trapped by expectation but was brave to escape when given the chance even if it was not in the best of circumstances. However I loved catching up with favourite characters Florence Baudin and Jack, having been wondering where their story would take them both after escaping from war torn France.

Though it’s a small detour in the main storyline, it’s a delightful one because Jack was such a fleeting, but important, character in the first book. They help us to know which pages are the most and least popular and see how visitors move around the site. Florence soon discovers that the destruction experienced by Malta means that tracing records relating to her aunt or the time she was in Malta is very difficult. Once again the author has written a sweeping epic novel with plenty to please readers of both romance and historical fiction.

Many secrets and lies are exposed through the book and some are resolved but yet the way the book ended has provided plenty of substance and issues to deal with for the final instalment - Night Train to Marrakech. Her romance with a member of the British aristocracy seems doomed to failure but he introduces her to the stunning palace his uncle owned in Mdina.Il palazzo segreto è una splendida dimora che unisce il lusso della nobiltà maltese al mistero dell’Oriente. However, her efforts are diverted when her estranged mother requests that she try to find her long lost aunt. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Jefferies does not provide clues as to how the story will unfold and I liked how I could not predict whether Florence would be able to fulfil her mother’s wishes. Yet, the relationship between Florence and her mother is strained, added to the fact that the war limits travel and Florence has had her own journey to recover from. L’uomo è distrutto dal rimorso di non aver salvato dal bombardamento il suo figlioletto e sta cercando a tutti i costi di divorziare da Belinda, una donna difficile e insoddisfatta. As a teenager she missed the heat of Malaysia, which left her with a kind of restlessness that led to quite an unusual life. Despite the war still raging, Claudette wants Florence to go to Malta to find Florence’s aunt, who left Paris 20 years prior.Historical fiction fans and of course like me long time fans of Dinah Jefferies will love every moment of this book. The characters and relationships were believable and I look forward to the third book in the series.
