MSS at a private celebration of a 10 year anniversary! Each week we focus on a few rhythms from various parts of Brazil, looking at them in as much depth as time allows, to find our understanding of their groove and characteristics, i.e. what players should listen out for, and how the rhythm's constructed, and how that relates to what to listen out for from one's fellow performers.Last week we at the grammar of the rhythms we'd covered so far, including Afoxé, Samba, Partifo Alto and Congada. There will also be illustrative asides and experimental pieces, and general bonhomie, I think you'll find us a friendly bunch! All necessary percussion provided and, a dance tutor and floor so you can dance tolive music (please come along wearing suitable shoes, as if for an aerobics class), the drummers making sense of the dance and the dancers making sense of the rhythms! We would like to see more dancers. To find more information about us, and see some videos of us in performance, shot by random members of the public as well as film and documentary makers, visit our web site at www.sambaman.org.uk and scroll down till you see videos hosted on YouTube and Vimeo. For how long, and in which capacity (dancer, drummer, puppeteer, costume maker) will you fit in? Let's find out! It's worth the struggle through the unpredictable evening traffic since a magical World of Carnival awaits you!#samba #dance #drumclass #BrazilianCarnival #fun
