About this deal
Proteins are found in every cell of the body and are needed for many of the important functions that make our body work properly. They are important for helping children’s bones to grow and to keep our bones and muscles healthy throughout our lives. As we can see in Figure2, both animal and plant-based foods can be rich sources of protein. But do they have the same quality? However, scientists don’t agree how much is enough. The International Society of Sports Nutrition’s daily recommendation is 0.9 grams of protein per pound of body weight (2 grams per kg) for athletes ( 38).
But more isn’t necessarily better. While it can help build muscle, if you take in too much your body may store the excess as fat.

Simply put, most everyone should get 10% to 35% of their calories each day in the form of protein. You need more calories for activities like biking, lifting weights, or running, but the percentage of protein remains in the same range. Our mission is to inspire more to embrace and adopt a plant-based diet. Even if it is just a couple of meals a week to #BEaHerbYvore, any effort in this direction will be a boost to health and a sustainable positive impact to the planet. Li Q, Zhou C, Liu H.
