About this deal

Ruth's second novel, Us Three , was an instant Sunday Times bestseller in hardback and paperback and has sold almost a quarter of a million copies. The conflicts and emotions are real and raw and you’ll find yourself relating to so many arguments and points of tension. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. It is a story that tenderly portrays a broken family, outlining the complexities that define history, with an ending that is both heart-breaking, yet uplifting at the same time.

Her debut novel Never Greener was chosen as WHSmith Fiction Book of the Year 2018, was nominated for Debut of the Year at the British Book Awards, was a Zoe Ball Book Club pick, and was a Sunday Times bestseller for fifteen weeks, three weeks at number one. I particularly liked the dynamic Soozi, Beca’s friend, a talented singer who says what she thinks, usually accompanied by swearing. The depth of emotion between Judy, Chloe and baby Bobo is wonderful to watch, and in Love Untold this intergenerational maternal web is beautifully captured by Ruth Jones. A genuine young woman who warms to the whole of Beca’s family, she has a positive affect on all of them.I must be very careful about spoilers in this delicious novel revolving around this family so full of resentment, long-held anger, prodigal daughters, and cold-water swimming. She has no idea quite what will happen next and whatever it is, it is sure to cause trouble in the family.

The time she looses her cool is with her academic mum which she is the opposite like the rest of the family it seems. Love Untold is the first book I’ve read by Ruth Jones, but after loving it I’ve added her others to my (ever-growing) list. It's a great read, refreshingly free of stereotypes, as we follow events in the lives of the four women in the run-up to Grace's ninetieth birthday. Ruth Jones’ third novel is another warm, heartfelt story, filled with strong and joyful female characters that captures the challenges and joys of relationships and family. But Grace is close to the end of her life, and she knows she has no choice but to try to heal her family.

Widowed in her thirties, left to bring up a teenage daughter, Alys, she ran a boarding house with her friends John, and his sister Cassie for years until Cassie and John's ill-health forced them to move to a home where she visits them every day. Meanwhile Grace's great -grand-daughter Beca is oblivious to all these worries, too busy navigating the highs and lows of teenage life and keeping secrets of her own. The most beautiful story spanning four generations of one family and all the hurt, harm and secrets that have been hidden. Also found the colloquial grammer used whenever characters spoke irritating, ie the way all the gs were dropped - "nothin" "pickin" etc.LIZA, a professor, is pregnant with a baby she's not sure she wants by a man she's not sure she loves and GRACE, their dawdling youngest daughter, lives a lie that no one in her family suspects.
