About this deal

Crown of the Blasphemer. Can be given to a CULTISTS model. This relic gives your unit a 4+ invulnerable save and once per battle, before making a saving throw for the bearer, it can use this relic. If it does, then it gets a 3+ invulnerable save until the end of the phase. This is a solid defensive buff option for a Lord Discordant or a Daemon Prince, but you’re probably better off investing your CP into offensive buffs for them. B

It is not unknown for a Daemon to be banished from the mutated form of the Chaos Space Marine. The reasons for this are always unclear, but it is seldom long that such a prized vehicle for carnage stands empty. The Obliterator's titanium-laced flesh splits and yawns open, and a plasma-spitting turret or many-barrelled Autocannon protrudes from the nightmarish fusion of cables, meat and cybernetic organs. With a bellow of bloodlust, the Obliterator unleashes its freshly spawned arsenal, letting loose with deadly salvoes that pulverise infantry and light vehicles alike. Obliterators are most commonly sighted in the company of Warpsmiths, for they feel a kinship for these machine-obsessed souls, yet they often partake in a Daemonkin warband's crusades of desolation.

Fellow Daemonkin look upon these deformed champions with great reverence, for they are living proof of the ultimate ascension that awaits them all. With gigantic pincer-claws and scythe-like talons of Warp-twisted bone, these malformed abominations slash and tear their prey apart, delighting in the gory carnage they wreak. Both mortal and daemonic warriors are driven to an exultant frenzy when they fight alongside the Greater Possessed, desperate to claim such eternal honour for themselves with a worthy display of brutality.

Mike P: It is a very welcome change that we no longer have to pay points for Marks. In addition, any unit can gain access to Marks, meaning Daemon Engines like Maulerfiends and Daemonkin units like Possessed are no longer left out of the fun. Enhancements Melee Combat. Chaos Space Marines are generally pretty good when it comes to melee combat. They have a ton of great units that excel at roughing up enemies in close combat, such as the Lord Discordant, Possessed, Chosen, and Terminators. It’s very easy to build a Chaos Space Marine army that can wreak absolute havoc once it reaches the enemy. Role-wise, Berzerkers may be the least useful as your army already has good, fast melee threats. That said, the ability to Blood Surge is interesting and an OC 2 melee unit which can score LETHAL HITS on 5+ isn’t bad at all, so there may be a place for one of these. The downside is that these guys really want the benefits of Blessings of Khorne, which they won’t get in a CSM army. This rule gives your army bonuses based on their Marks of Chaos. When you muster your army, each HERETIC ASTARTES unit which isn’t an Epic Hero can gain one of the Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle, or SLaanesh keywords (if it didn’t already have one). Each time a unit with a mark makes a Dark Pact it gets a bonus. Liam’s list is a bit more traditional in that it’s using Terminators for midtable control, but he’s still supporting them with 3 units of Possessed and two units of Warp Talons. The other trade Liam makes is swapping out the Lord Discordant for a super-buffed Dark Apostle – this Apostle takes Epistle and Dark Council for near-guaranteed double prayers every turn, and he’s thrown in Daemonic Whispers to get some extra XP out of the deal as well, since it’s basically free CP on rounds 1-3. Where to Read More

During questioning by Lorgar about what had happened within the Eye, a Word Bearer by the name of Argel Tal detailed what he had experienced in the Warp, providing useful insight later used as the foundation for the heretical Book of Lorgar. Lorgar also noted that Argel Tal now appeared to possess "two souls" -- Argel Tal's own and, unknowingly, the soul of the Daemon known as Raum. In honour of his achievements, Lorgar made Argel Tal the Captain of his Gal Vorbak (the "Blessed Sons" in Colchisian), an elite cadre of Astartes made up of the surviving members of the Serrated Sun Chapter. The Word Bearers have a solid set of Stratagems, with a pair of surprising defensive buffs to keep characters on the battlefield. The mutants are in some ways a bit more conventional weird for GW, we have seen stuff like this in things like the Poxwalkers from a few years ago. Still freaky but they don’t quite impact me in same way. This is… just OK. As far as being a value vs. MSRP goes it’s fine, but long-term you’re probably not going to use the Helbrute and the Havocs are more of a situational add to the army. The Chaos Space Marines notably don’t come with the new sprue to upgrade the unit to have a psyker or a heavy chainaxe – those will be options for the kill team – and so I might generally recommend passing on this box in favor of buying the individual units you’ll need. It would be in the Cadia System that Lorgar would learn that his suspicions had been correct and that the shape of all of the religions across the galaxy that possessed so many similarities to the Colchisian Old Faith were not artefacts of Mankind's collective unconsciousness, but expressions of worship in the universal truth that was Chaos. Discovering the world of Cadia, a Word Bearers landing party, led by Lorgar, was greeted by a large number of barbaric human tribes that showed little fear.

The Master of Executions moves to Elites – a move the faction needed, but they just dropped the ball here. What should have been a Judiciar equivalent was basically turned into a chapter champion. He’s still a beast, but suffers from not being as good as your other options. His axe became “better” as the randomness on the damage was moved to 2, though 6s to wound do 2 mortals instead of normal damage now. 5/10In Part 2: The Legions – We talk about the eight legions outlined in this book, their rules, and how they’ll play.

Word Bearers are known for cavorting with Daemons, and are great fits for running lots of Possessed. You’ll want a Dark Apostle and a Master of Possession if you’re running them, and likely a daemon engine or two in addition to your possessed. The Word Bearers trait is very good for melee units that normally hit on a 3+.Borrowed Units. Chaos Space Marine armies can run Plague Marines, Rubric Marines, and Berzerkers, and these each have some interesting play in the army.
