About this deal

I did get a bit of a glow after sunbathing but was quite happy with that result (I know, I know, it’s still sun damage but we’re not talking leather handbag here and it makes me look a bit more alive in midwinter). Why I love it: This sunscreen is the go-to for anyone who struggles with sun sensitivities. The SPF50+ formula is suitable for the whole family and will ensure even the most sensitive and reactive skin is protected. If your skin isn’t susceptible to sun sensitivities but you are planning to go away somewhere or live somewhere with very intense heart conditions, then the Extreme Sun Protection SPF 50+ would still be a good shout due to the very high protection it offers and the high absorption of UVA rays. There’s lots of choice. I tried the three products mentioned above but there’s also a sports range, a Glimmer 20SPF version, Family options. Lots. My Ultrasun review: the downside? dianadingbat Best sunscreen on market Best sun screen on the market. I know that I & all my family, including grandchildren will be protected

tizzi Lovely feel on a dry day Lovely soaks in great to carry on bag on a hot day a small Matt primer wd be good to take off the shine of skin in For more details on the importance of vitamin D and where to buy supplements, see our in-depth vitamin D guide . Other ways to stay safe in the sun I haven’t had a chance to try this on holiday yet. However, I can’t wait for that feeling after a full day on the beach, getting out of the shower and slathering my sun-stressed skin in this cooling, watery aftersun. I might even pop it in the fridge for full-on ice-cold relief! Discover More: The tan-enhancing formula will encourage your skin’s natural tanning process to allow you to achieve a sun-kissed glow in a speedier and well-protected manner.Plus, the SPF spray can even be used upside down (trust me, I tried) so you can ensure all those difficult to reach places are always covered. There’s a long list of ingredients that are used as chemical absorbers, so it’s easiest to simply look for products that are labelled ‘sensitive’ rather than search for specific ingredients. SPF make-up: does it really offer protection from the sun? However, there's no agreed definition of 'reef-safe', research is still ongoing as to the impact of these chemicals, and our tests found many mineral suncreams failed to protect as claimed – so take any claims with a pinch of salt. Kids' sun cream

Why I love it: When I’m at the beach or by the pool, I’m usually the person sitting under the shade. This means that at the end of my holiday, I’m usually just as pale as when I arrived. The Ultrasun Tan Activator has changed that, because now I can lavishly enjoy the sun while getting a nice, healthy tan without compromising my skin’s health. This is sure to be a firm favourite of my mum’s, who has in the past been known to avoid wearing sun protection completely (tsk tsk!) in the hopes of getting a better tan, and for people who like to get a “base tan”. In my unscientific test, Minnie stayed her usual creamy white and while I burn at the drop of a hat, I didn’t get a single pink stripe. Why I love it: If you’re looking to up the ante on your daily SPF protection, then the Ultrasun Face Anti-Ageing Formula SPF 50+ is for you. This is a great choice for your daily SPF if you’re looking for very high protection, if you’re in a hot climate, a city-dweller, or work outdoors. For any product to provide the SPF it claims, you need to apply 2mg per square cm – which means around a teaspoonful of product for your face. And, just as with sun cream, it needs to be reapplied regularly.

LDL26 Great SPF Face Moisturiser It goes on really well, feels good and protects the face from the sun. So all good! Physical/mineral products reflect visible light as well as UV, which can make the formulations opaque and leave a white residue on the skin. Some formulations use nanoparticles of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide – the minerals responsible for the residue. Nanoparticles are smaller, and as they scatter visible light – rather than reflect it – the sun creams are transparent. How to use sun cream Cover up – wear sunglasses to protect your eyes and grab a hat if you need to keep your face out of the sun. You might also want to wear a T-shirt, which can help to cover up typically over-exposed areas such as shoulders. Why I love it: One of the reasons I love Ultrasun so much is that they cater for everyone. The Anti-Ageing & Anti-Pigmentation sunscreen is the ideal choice if you struggle with areas of pigmentation and UV-induced dark spots. It’s no wonder that doctors, dermatologists and beauty editors alike will tell you that protecting your skin is of paramount importance. But sadly, not all sunscreens are created equal. As is often the case, it’s worth investing in a quality product that will do the job effectively and give you much-needed peace of mind whether you’re at the beach, park or just lounging in your garden. Even with our test subjects just sitting on a chair in a T-shirt, we saw substantial reductions in the level of sun protection, so we don't think you can rely on once-a-day sun cream to keep you protected all day.
