About this deal

The Grace thrillers have become something of an annual treat since the first, Dead Simple, was published in 2005.

Best of all, there is a lovely twist at the end when Grace finally confronts Gaia’s would-be murderer. James presents the reader with a number of stalkers and when Gaia’s life is threatened, we are unsure about which of the crazy fans is the real danger.

We work closely with publishers and authors to ensure that we offer the best books on the market for your child. When Red Westwood meets handsome, charming and rich Bryce Laurent through an online dating agency, there is an instant attraction.

By the time she arrives in Brighton Roy is set the challenge of ensuring her safety as well as running a murder investigation. There are a few bits here that are kind of vital to later story lines, so even if you’ve been put off by my ramblings, it’s still worth reading. I also liked the author’s nods to social networking and some real-life actors and actresses- it made it feel very ‘now’ and provided shreds of believability. It includes dramatic scenes that will have anyone who has visited the Royal Pavilion on the edge of their seats, and features several areas of the building that will only be familiar to those who work here. Like many other popular series of books the characters and their history are what add another dimension for the readers.

Not Dead Yet felt like it went on a bit long at times, with a lot going on; some of which related to the main plot, some of which didn't. Ruthless gangs, operating with military precision, have discovered a new black market flourishing in the shadows – an unthinkable source of wealth even more profitable than drugs. In the eagerly awaited latest installment in the bestselling Roy Grace series, Detective Superintendent Roy Grace finds himself plunged into an unfamiliar and rarefied world of fine art; but beneath the veneer lurks greed, deception and violence. The Harcourts decide to make a big life change, moving from th entre of Brighton to an old Georgian mansion in the depths of the Sussex countryside. When a major Hollywood movie is scheduled to be filmed in Brighton, the town grows eager with excitement. Another recurring thread in the books also pops up again – the mystery surrounding Grace’s missing wife, Sandy. The Grace stories almost always go to the top of the bestseller lists, not least because they are supremely well-told. Kipp Brown, successful businessman and compulsive gambler, is having the worst run of luck of his life.

His books you sense are the result of a real team effort and James’s generosity of spirit shines through in the thanks he gives to all those who help him with his books. The best thing about this book was the descriptions and discussion of the Pavilion and it's history. The police are on the scene within minutes, but Logan has vanished, leaving behind her neatly parked car and mobile phone. Another distracting element was what seemed like constant interruptions as the characters' wardrobes were described. For the City of Brighton and Hove, the publicity value of a major Hollywood movie being filmed on location, about the city's greatest love story - between King George IV and Maria Fitzherbert - is incalculable. For some readers, it may be a little disconcerting to find the fictitious Grace discussing case notes with actual serving Police colleagues.
