About this deal

His love for his family comes through clearly as well as the friendships and support he has received from the teams he works with. For Michael to bring a character to life so much that in the audio book that you feel you love the guy and you can’t wait to see what he says and does next, is just beautiful.

Along the way he opens his man drawer, narrowly avoids disaster when his trousers fall down in front of three policemen and learns the hard way why he should always listen to his wife. Like most people in the country, I absolutely adore Michael McIntyre - I’m sure there are some people who don’t, but I haven’t met them and I don’t wish to. He holds the record for highest-selling artist at London's The O2, the UK's biggest arena, after twenty-eight sold-out shows. I found myself missing him, and the rest of the book felt like it lost its sparkle, though their was also more weight to it, with Michael having to figure out how to move forward with his career without Addison in his corner.Michael has had a silly life, a stressful life, sometimes a moving and touching life, but always A Funny Life. In A Funny Life, Michael honestly and hilariously shares the highs and the lows of his rise to the top and desperate attempts to stay there. The book is quite interesting though as it charts his progress from regular employment, through the comedy scene and into the mainstream media. It’s clear this is what he’s always wanted and worked hard for, and I’m so glad he’s managed to make a success out of what he loves, and why shouldn’t you celebrate the gains that come with that? I am biased because I absolutely love Michael, I laughed out loud many times reading this and honestly I was shocked at how much he struggled over the years with money and his rise to the top.

The voice and acting of his agent Addison not only made me feel my life was lesser for never knowing the man, but also made me feel so happy whenever he turned up or rang up. I downloaded this as an audible book (which McIntyre narrated himself) and found it to be a really enjoyable experience where the comedic timing shone through! Being such a huge fan of Michael over the years it was wonderful to see behind the curtain of his famous jokes, amazing performances and shows that I love so much. I read his previous autobiography many years ago and this follows on from 2006 and goes up to when he won a BAFTA in 2017. Check out the videos where he steals food from people’s houses and serves it back to them, it’s a blast. But it seems you can't really have all that 'success' without it tainting your perspective making it bent on revenge, fear or selfish ambition. It was a wonderful and heartwarming story and as someone who loves to see the inner workings of how things are put together and how people get to where they are now I absolutely loved it.

During the coronavirus lockdown he created and hosted a new game show, The Wheel , which once again pulled in millions of viewers. When you see a comedian appear on panel shows and getting their own dvds you assume that their life and career must be one big high. Did he not think actually prepping and practicing might be worth his time, rather than just abandoning them? I know he is a comedian that people either seem to love or hate, something he talks about in this book. If you liked the first book, you'll definitely love this too - life, love and laughs with Britain's best-loved comedian. It all made for a very enjoyable read, with Michael coming across as likeable, honest, hard-working and just someone who doesn't take life too seriously. Biography: Michael McIntyre's spot-on observational comedy and ability to turn everyday situations into masterclasses of human exasperation have struck a chord with millions of fans, making him one of the most successful comedians in the world. Looking back at this work, I’m fairly sure I’ve watched everything he’s done, have all his DVDs and have read all his books (all 2 of them!

Michael has had a silly life, a stressful life, sometimes a moving and touching life, but always A Funny Life . I’m a huge fan anyway and was fascinated reading about his road to success as well as gaining an insight into Michael, the family man. If you have seen his shows then while listening you can just imagine him doing his thing with his head bobbing. After reading this book (or rather listening to Michael reading) i feel now i will always know him better and always be rooting for him in whatever he does in life. In A Funny Life, Michael honestly and hilariously shares the highs and the lows of his rise to the top and desperate attempts to stay there.Anyway, “A Funny Life” is great – there are mixture of emotions; plenty of humour and jokes, but with further insights into Michael’s life. Waking up the next morning in the tiny rented flat he shared with his wife Kitty and their one-year-old son, he was beyond excited about the new glamorous world of show business. Michael narrates his audiobook which added so much to the fun of it, as he goes off on mini little tangents through out.
