About this deal

What starts out as one of the best cliffhangers ever, with Barry showing up at Jay Garrick's house, turned out be one of the most tryong moments of Wally's life. He’s only just getting his feet back under him when his world is turned upside down again, this time with lawsuit from a woman who claimed the Flash failed to save her due to negligence. Buuut, with the lack of Waid trades, I think the Johns run reads decently without prior knowledge, but you kinda lose something from the Waid run. His first run (with Wally) is considered one of the better runs; not on par with Waid or anything, but far from the worst that the character has seen.

Yet Linda Park- a character with tremendous potential- is almost always reduced to either a sex symbol or a hysterical pawn to give Wally something to brood about- monster of the week villains are often accompanied by an alternatively attention-starved needy Linda or a matronly, overbearing one to give Wally dimension, her clothes are never appropriate for her profession, and she's constantly giving up jobs and autonomy to support Wally West. IMPULSE, which was also by Waid, was tons of fun and for a while it was my favorite book being published. In this volume it is a collected from the series Born to Run and added with two annuals, one special and a few more issues of The Flash.

And then the big story with Aquaman and vs Marine Marauder which was alright and then vs Abra Kadabra which I loved and Waid does show the 64th century he comes from and its kinda cool and seeing some new concepts there were refreshing and really shows Wally's choices as a hero! In later volumes, these supporting figures will be dropped for a more speedster family-focused title.

It's a good story that gets really interesting in the second part as the Flash travels to Abra Kadabra's world and makes a startling discovery. It allows for not only Wally's thoughts and emotions to come across, but allows the reader to step inside the Flash to see what it's like when Wally bends the laws of physics. Not only does this arc have Wally facing off against a villain it also puts a strain on his relationship with Linda. This run, starring Wally, took him from a guy who was cocky yet also unsure of himself and catapulted him to one of the strongest heroes in the DCU.

jumped from Jay in one issue to Barry in another, to Wally as Flash, then back to Wally as KF (his origins issue), and then back to Wally as the Flash and somehow Barry and Iris are both dead. If you want to read about the Wally West incarnation of The Flash I guess you could start at the beginning with Mike Baron but is not that necessary.Worth reading this book just for that, although the supporting issues in this collection are pure 90's bliss.
