About this deal

Shredders with blade or rotor disc systems will come with a push stick for feeding, so that’s one more step you’ll have to do. This smart-looking electric model is about the same size and weight as the Bosch and Cobra, and just as well built, though some assembly is required, including fitting the wheels.

Similarly, any models with less than a 5 m cable were rated down, as they could only be used in small gardens without an extension lead. However, f or a good all-rounder, consider a shredder with 2500 W – this will be able to deal with a combination of hard branches and green waste. We put multiple garden shredders to the test, assessing which models have the right balance of speed, power, size, and functionality. Plus, remember that an electric shredder which has a large maximum cutting diameter may not be as effective at shredding greener plants. For the moment, you can be assured that all the good features attributed to the PWS01a apply equally to the LSRL PWS01A.This shredder is quiet in operation with a strong pull on material in the funnel and it shreds prunings down to compostable material easily, dropping them into the box below. It’s also nowhere near as expensive as some of the larger machines on this page, so you won’t waste money if you don’t need all that extra power. Just note, at the time of writing, the LSRL PWS01A was cheaper then the Einhell or the Bosch impact shredders. it’s light, and has large wheels and a handle so it’s easy to move around the garden and in and out of the shed.

A rigid box may be easier to use but note these shredders have a safety mechanism that stops them working if the box is not in place. Impact shredders’ blades wear out quickly because of the soft materials, so make sure your shredder has more than one blade. If you need to deal with everyday small stuff and the occasional branch, this is one of the best shredders on the market today. It eventually swallowed the lot but closer inspection of the huge 67-litre collection bin revealed that it had simply crushed rather than cut the branches, which meant I wasn’t able to spread the remnants over the flowerbeds.

The best garden shredders should have a cutting width of at least 40 mm , so they can tackle tough branches and trimmings.

However, no collection bag is provided and the bright red cable is easy to see but only 4m long, so you may need an extension lead with this, depending on where in the garden you're shredding. It also doesn’t do a great job at shredding green waste – it’s best to stick to hard sticks and remove leaves before sending branches through the shredder.

Speed: We tested each model’s blade rpm and shredding rate to identify whether they were suitable for heavy-duty or light use. These shredders cost more than impact shredders, so only get them if you intend to shred a lot of garden waste.Introductions are limited to motor finance, CarMoney Limited will pay us a fixed commission per paid out deal. In fact, this seems to be slightly less than 4 mm in reality, although only by a couple of millimetres.
