About this deal

Meg and Louise now need to get some staff back, with the help of long time resident of the hotel Ambrosine who does the flowers, picked fresh from the hotels gardens, they manage to bring back some locals to help. The FMC’s immediate commitment to a hotel that she had no connection to other than her mother employed there just didn’t ring true.

They chopped around with oddments of text that I think should have gone somewhere else, and they felt a bit rushed. This story is about Meg, who answers an SOS from her mother deep in the Dorset countryside trying to make a success of her latest business venture. I am rather pleased that she gives you a glimpse of the professional kitchen too, as it is quite different from that of a country house hotel.Meg falls in love with the hotel, despite the fact it needs some work doing on it, none of the rooms have bathrooms, the decor is dated. v=1612781338","options":["Title"],"media":[{"alt":null,"id":17264472719515,"position":1,"preview_image":{"aspect_ratio":0. With its delightful characters, vivid scenery descriptions and beautiful setting at Nightingale Woods Hotel in Dorset, this book takes readers on an enchanting journey full of hope, love and adventure.

The hotel was brought to life perfectly and I had no trouble imagining myself staying there in one of the charming rooms. This takes you through the nitty gritty bits of keeping one running in the 1960s when en suite rooms were yet an emerging trend. Many thanks to NetGalley and to Random House UK, Cornerstone, Century for letting me see an advance reader’s copy of One Enchanted Evening. There is a welcome visit to picturesque Provence to add to the fun, and an intriguing look back at courageous deeds of the past too. Along the way, you get to know a lovely cast of characters, with a sprinkling of nasty people to make your hackles rise. Meg has always wanted to be a professional cook; she has an internship set up in France, but it isn’t time to go yet and restaurants are still generally a man’s world where women aren’t welcome.

This book follows on from two previous books set in the 1960s and vividly brings to life the beauty of Nightingale Woods Hotel in Dorset. Undaunted, she has plans to travel to France and work on her already impressive skills to chase her dream of becoming a pastry chef. The hotel is charming, a place I’d love to stay at with its welcoming and homely feel and beautiful location. One Enchanted Evening picks up the story from Katie Fforde's previous books A Wedding in the Country and A Wedding in Provence, this time concentrating on Meg's story.I was drawn into this from the very first chapters and I could tell that Meg was a fantastic character, Justin on the other hand… he needed some manners drilling into him! Having been born in the 60’s a lot of things reminded me of my young days, no bathroom’s indoors, I remember staying in hotels when on holiday as we were growing up and none of them had en suite facilities. Do you have that one author where every time you get a new book from them it feels like you’re catching up with an old friend?
