About this deal

As I wrote for the Ultimate Collector's Edition set in 2015, there's not a whole lot to say about this movie that hasn't already been said. Skin tones occasionally fluctuate, giving off a rosy feel, but for the most part they're acceptable. It's been years since I sat down to 'Home Alone,' having avoided any television broadcast, as well as the home video releases ever since the VHS copy from my childhood. On the evening before his family leave for their Christmas break to Paris, Kevin is banished to his room for misbehaving by his mother Kate (Catherine O'Hara).

Surround speakers were engaged surprisingly often, with a few localized sounds (that felt very forced), some hustle and bustle at the airports and other scenes where ambiance would be necessary, and a few bits of motion, to boot. As a new father, it's wild to realize I was 8 years old when my parents took me to see this at the theater over Thanksgiving - and then for the next several weekends after. A large house he's going to have to defend when two robbers (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern) set their sights on cleaning it out while the inhabitants are away. The transfer over to 4K is Awesome and the art on the steenbok itself is cool with a bit of everything on it. His family (and extended family, and extended extended family) is getting ready for a trip to France when Kevin creates a scene, and is banished to the attic for the night, wishing his family would just disappear.

Accidentally left behind when his family rushes off on a Christmas vacation, Kevin gets busy decorating the house for the holidays.

Mac Cam: Behind the Scenes with Macaulay Culkin (SD, 4 min) - A feature of young Culkin wandering around the set filming. A good-looking boy, Culkin lights up the screen during several funny sequences, the most famous of which finds him screaming for joy when he realises he's unsupervised in his own house.

By planting booby traps galore, adorably mischievous Kevin stands his ground as his frantic mother attempts to race home before Christmas Day.Written and produced by John Hughes, this madcap slapstick adventure features an all-star supporting cast including Catherine O'Hara and John Heard as Kevin's parents, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stem as the burglars, and John Candy as the "Polka King of the Midwest. scene where O'Hara suddenly remembers Kevin isn't with them, or some of the basement footage involving Kevin himself. While initially soft on fine details due to the credits, the image immediately takes on a warmer tone and feel when we enter the family home.

You've seen the movie a hundred times, but now thanks to the new transfer, you'll see new details, and the judicious HDR grading highlights the film's already beautiful color pallet. Quite the love fest for the film, but if it affected these members in such a positive way, it's hard to complain that much. Blooper Reel (SD, 2 min) - A very dirty (picture quality, not content) set of mishaps and screw ups on set. Home Alone is not just a movie; it's a nostalgic journey that continues to leave a lasting imprint on the hearts of audiences, young and old. Home Alone" is an absolute classic that never fails to spread joy and laughter, no matter how many times you've seen it.Bass use was reserved for the first portion of the film, but whenever a plane was on screen, there was a slight kick, which went into overdrive in the church sequence and a few spots afterwards. The Blu-ray release of 'Home Alone' isn't too spectacular, with pedestrian audio and video, and a port of the DVD extras, making this release not exactly a must own, but for those without the film, what better time than now to add it to the collection? Instead of opting for a new Atmos or DTS:X mix, Disney was content to recycle the same decent and effective DTS-HD MA 5. Home Alone makes its 4K UHD Blu-ray debut thanks to Disney and their retitled 20th Century Studios brand in a 2-disc 4K UHD + Blu-ray + Digital set. And I'm certainly not a fan of watching characters discover true meanings of life or family or giving or friendship around the holidays.
