About this deal

I might not be able to banish your anxiety or make you feel 100% comfortable in your skin but I hope I can at least give you a break from the constant brain chatter and we can have a giggle about it together. Such as, if I let my child go into town on their own this weekend will someone hurt them, or take them? Hayley Morris is an award-winning comedian and internet sensation, best known for her hilarious and taboo-busting sketches which regularly attract millions of views on Instagram and TikTok.

However, if you are after a light-hearted read that will give you a giggle about everyday situations then this is certainly the book to pick up. There were burst out laughing moments, eye rolling moments and heart breaking moments that spoke of loss that anyone who’s lost someone will know.Running through imaginary arguments whilst showering, hiding your knickers in the nurse’s office before they look directly into your vagina, or not knowing how to be a normal human when you have the plumber over. I loved the end of the book and I think Hayley has been really brave to open up like this talking about things that most of us never speak of.

Now, I’m not going to dispute that the book is funny but I’m also not going to say that this book is about overthinking as it isn’t about overthinking in the way the dictionary states overthinking is – ‘think about (something) too much or for too long’. I actually related to some of this book and thought I was going to rate it higher than I ended up doing, but the tone in which this is written is so insufferable that my rating just kept going down and down. Auch die tiefgründigeren Gedanken gefielen mir sehr gut und wirkten in dem sonst insgesamt humorvollen Buch überhaupt nicht fehl am Platz. Autobiographical books are not usually something I read a great deal of, but this had an intriguing approach that discusses topics of growing up, in a comfortable and reassuring style. Or you might know me as the Brain Girl, and don’t be fooled…it’s not because I’m outrageously smart.Overall, this is an enjoyable, amusing and relatable read that should be read by anyone entering their 20s and trying to navigate the world. Along with her funny narrative there’s also the message that it’s ok to be who you are, whether you’re “normal” or neurodivergent. Running through imaginary arguments whilst showering, hiding your knickers in the nurse's office before they look directly into your vagina or not knowing how to be a normal human when you have the plumber over.

Eventually, after a lot of thinking, I realised that there are almost eight billion people on earth, and surely we’re mostly doing the same things as each other…. Health-Anxiety – während ich sämtliche Teile meines Lebens konstant überdenke, bin ich überhaupt kein Hypochonder.
