About this deal

The Dark Side Of The Moon’ is the eighth studio album by Pink Floyd, originally released in March 1973. We are working on a plan with Reprise for those of you who feel the BBC DVD has a problem and we will let you know when we have something to offer you and a good method. The album was partly developed during live performances, and the band premiered an early version of the suite at London’s Rainbow Theatre several months before recording began. Additionally, the hardbound book will include never-before-seen photos along with extensive liner notes by photographer Joel Bernstein. CD3 - "Harvest" Outtakes was recorded by Elliot Mazer at Quadrafonic Sound Studios in Nashville, Tennessee on February 6th, April 4th and February 7th respectively, 1971.

In terms of bonus audio, Young’s much-bootlegged February 23 BBC In Concert is included on CD and vinyl in the respective packages and three Harvest outtakes are also made available in physical form for the first time. The song features a young man shooting for a fresh start after a love gone sour, but there’s an old-man weariness – “See the lonely boy, out on the weekend/Trying to make it pay” – that creeps in and ends up defining the entire record, particularly on “Old Man” and “Heart of Gold. Relistening to Harvest is also a good reminder of Young’s storytelling ability, from the morass of drug addiction portrayed in “The Needle and the Damage Done” (such devastation, told in just over two minutes) and the peak Neil Young melancholy found in “Words,” topped off with fiery guitar work. Song I Can’t Wait to Hear Live: “Journey Through the Past” – Young recently expressed his discomfort for touring during the waning pandemic, so it’s anybody’s guess when/if he’ll hit the road again.

The BBC word mark and logo is a trade mark of The British Broadcasting Corporation and is used under license from BBC Worldwide. Half a century after its original release, it remains perhaps his best (and most beloved) album, more than worthy of revisiting on its own merits. After seemingly hundreds of years of different variations it is hard to say what the real Neil actually is but if you are going to start somewhere perhaps 'Harvest' is your best entry point. In the spring of 2023, a DVD replacement program was announced and a replacement DVD with corrected audio was released by mail to consumers providing proof of purchase. Also included in the package is a hardbound book which includes never-before-seen photos along with extensive liner notes by photographer Joel Bernstein and a fold-out poster. The three outtakes included with the reissue are “Bad Fog of Loneliness,” “Journey Through the Past,” and “Dance Dance Dance,” the latter two of which are also performed in the BBC set. The hard bound book that accompanies the box sets includes 40 photographs, many of which have never been published before, and liner notes by Joel Bernstein.
