About this deal

So when she inherits her estranged grandfather's fitnesswear company in San Francisco, nobody expects her to keep it. What I loved about this book, and what I’ve loved about every book by Aly Martinez, is that she always perfectly balances that emotion, that banter, that spark and connection and romance, with a story that just can’t be beat. what a unique, heartbreaking slash heartwarming journey - that I don’t want to say too much about for fear of spoilers. They are honestly just struggling to put one foot in front of the other, but they soon find that the one person who gets it is the other.

While it may not feature trucks, trains, or prison, or even really getting drunk, “Mama” is at the heart of the story. It was nothing compared to the pitch black that consumed me when I was forced to leave her with Caven for good. I love it when the events of a story hurt my heart and envelope me within their feels in the deepest and realest of ways. Bree and Eason survive the fire that takes their partners - but neither of them are truly living after that fateful night.Consumed by hate and rage, I spent four years running from my memories - until a shattered woman gave me a reason to stop. An emotional volcano explodes in the lives of two couples and the physical debris left behind is the crux of the fabulous story. The two of us could sit outside for hours, talking about nothing, and it filled the massive hole in my chest with new life. When tragedy strikes and they loose their spouses, they only have each other to go on and so they form a united front for the kids even though they’re totally devastated and grieving.

note: until the end of the story I couldn’t be warmed to her, regardless of how nice she turned out to be.It took losing the woman I loved, and facing the paralyzing task of moving on without her, for me to truly understand that. I’ll be honest I was sceptical when this book was recommended for Colleen hoover fans, as I am a hoover hater though and through but I decided to give this book a chance and it is a whirlwind of emotion with peaks and troughs throughout, the beginning started off cheesy but the writing evolved as the story developed, bree and Eason quickly becoming characters I loved and the amount of support they gave each other something not often seen as much. It just had a feel to it that I will never forget, a story that is still with me, and characters that I will love for the rest of time.
