About this deal

If you look very carefully at the night sky, you might spot a teeny-tiny sparkle out of the corner of your eye, a whisper of a tinkling trail… That’s Ella. They would also only drop off a case of books and leave us to run it – it was so lovely to have you on hand to chat to the children and recommend them books, as well as the small (but appreciated! Ella and all the creatures look so cute and I love how so many of the animals seen earlier on in some of the pages appear again as the story continues.

I found the visuals here very appealing, appreciating both the wintry vistas (something I always enjoy), and the depiction of Sable (unsurprising, as a fox lover). I love the concept of this story Ella uses her night light to give others Hope and she helps them out with their problems.

Until one day, when her animal friends decide it’s their turn to give back—with a creative plan that just may make Ella’s dream of seeing the sun come true. They really are special and would look good hung on a wall as a piece of art, as well as making this book stand out and look magical.

Bookwagon suggests it for a bedtime snuggling read, with opportunity for sharing often alongside reading, knowing and reciting alone too.I haven't charted out my visits for the summer term, but I'm sure there are several in the south) and thanks so much for being so fantastic! Somehow having a character resembling a moth but making it so cute and lovely, makes this such a lovely read, and it’s definitely a book me and my family will enjoy sharing again! Like The Star Maker’s Apprentice, this picture book is one that demands snuggling up with, reading together, often and lovingly. After an evening of fun with her animal friends, Sable the fox gathers her animal friends together to hatch a plan so Ella can see the sunrise.

There's tons of detail and texture in every page with lots of extra bits of 'light' that really make this magical. The illustrations are delightful, everything a mind can find in its childish corners is beautifully depicted here: the brightness of stars in the sweet folding of night, the lightness of being of the main character, the goodness of her heart which passes on to her friends, who devise a way to enable her to watch her first sun rise!C'est également une ode à la nuit, qui est souvent plus une source d'angoisse que d'émerveillement pour les plus jeunes. I love Lucy Flemings illustrations, so I knew I’d love the artwork in this book and each page is truly magical and stunning to look at. A charming story of an adorable doe-eyed woodland creatures, bugs, crawlers and one very special pixie named Ella, who is a gatherer and sharer of light always making things clearer and brighter. The narrative, whilst cute and an animal friendship story, was a bit less captivating but still perfect for a festive story or bedtime tale.

By the end of the book she has helped so many creatures and they want to help her so they create a fort for her to stay in so she can see the sunlight.I found the story engaging, but the chief draw for me (and the reason I picked this up from a library display recently) was the artwork. She makes friends with other nocturnal creatures by giving them a little of the light she gathers to help them. But each night she collects bits of light to share with people who need help finding their way in the dark. She can only go out at night because it will hurt her wings, but when she does go out, she collects light.
