About this deal

I'm confused by her choice of very similar titles and without some kind of guidance I seem to be always picking a book in the middle of a series. The only saving grace is then are shorter than the average novel but therein lies a further problem. Female students are going missing but nobody’s noticed yet “An outstanding police procedural that you won’t want to put down.

She seemed to be more of a sounding board and a conscience telling him what to do in his personal life. I enjoyed the way the character of the killer was written as they were very much the dark, sadistic and obsessed kind who's feeling for all but their obsession was seemingly muted. The narration by Jonathan Keeble is excellent, but it's not enough to make me want to continue the series. A good detective story that moves on at a reasonably fast pace that involves a man with fanatical emotions towards a woman that he loves and idolises but which are not reciprocal. The overall plot of this story was good, there wasn't quite the two parellel stories running side by side throughout the entire book that I have seen in a lot of the other ones (although there were mentions of other things happening), I did notice with this one something that I hadn't noticed in the others - all of the clues were there right from the start.Once again, we have equal importance given to the characters’ personal lives and mystery behind the murders. Entführung, Folter, sexuelle Gewalt und andere Grausamkeiten - bis zum Zunähen der Münder der Opfer und Ohrmarken mit Nummern wie bei Nutzvieh.

I had read and enjoyed the previous book by this author featuring these detectives so I was looking forward to this novel.

As I mentioned above, figuring out the who and the where was easier for me than in some of the other books, but the why I struggled with more. He claims to have absolutely no idea what he's doing with his love life when in reality its down to him making asinine choices and then not being able to own up to them. I would much prefer for the author and the publisher to put a warning on the cover that this story is part of a series and not a complete ‘stand alone’ novel. I think this had some bearing on me only giving this four stars as I'd enjoyed the case in book 3 so much and there were parts of the characters stories I knew outcomes to already too.
