About this deal

Nothing has really changed with regards to where they've placed the GuideRails on the medial side from the Transcend 7 and the Glycerin GTS 19. I appreciate the full disclosure that you’re neutral runners, but it’s hard to parse out whether this is a good shoe for the runner it is actually designed for. While below the rail the shoe was flexible where it needed to be to transition well for me, higher up along the rail things slowed down and created a feeling of a hitch in moving forward. Jeff: Subtle shifts from the consistently great Glycerin means the Transcend is an excellent stability shoe, but it is still a stability shoe. The seventh iteration weighs less than the previous model, and yet its midsole is much softer due to Brooks tinkering with the DNA Loft foam to increase comfort and support.

The feedback on the Brooks Transcend 7 was it’s very stable which is fantastic but it lacked a little bit of flexibility on toe-off. This is a game-changer of a shoe; you can wear them to work, or for walking or if you are new to running. With an engineered, seamless mesh, the upper favors the look of its neutral brother, the Glycerin 18. v=1653860894"}},"requires_selling_plan":false,"selling_plan_allocations":[]},{"id":36881106632857,"title":"7.Brooks’s Transcend may always fall second in cushioning to the Glycerin (an intentional setback, since the Glycerin, according to Brooks, will always be number one when it comes to plushness), but regardless of its status, the shoe’s soft platform had us lacing it up for long runs. Sam: The lighter Ravenna 10 with its 1st generation Rails was a step back from the lively posted Ravenna 9.

Brooks have increased that surface area to provide a slightly more stable and cushioned ride in conjunction with this softer DNA Loft cushioning system. The Transcend has middle-of-the-road cushioning—not too soft that I feel like I’m wearing bedroom slippers, and not too firm that I feel every crack and pebble beneath my foot,” said associate test director Jen Sherry. In the last year I’ve run 10+ miles more than 60 times, so safe to say I know how my legs should feel during and after a longer run, and this was a unique and unpleasant experience. This men's running shoe combines our softest cushioning with our GuideRails® support system, ensuring every stride is sublime. It can be thought of as paired to the neutral Launch whereas Transcend is paired to Glycerin and Adrenaline to Ghost. The GuideRails are designed to keep you moving forward without excess movement, with the intent of protecting the knees.

Those needing more support could opt for the Adrenaline with its firmer BioMoGo DNA midsole with DNA Loft heel insert. Jeff is the token slow runner of the RTR lineup as such his viewpoints on shoe and gear can differ from those who routinely finish marathons in three hours or less. We've shifted our focus beyond the feet to the most injury-prone part of a runner's body: the knees. We're talking about the runner that makes contact on the entry point and as they transition through to midstance, there might be a little bit of bias towards that medial side, resulting in mild overpronation as you get ready to come out of your gait cycle. Another tester, who is a self-described pavement pounder, said the shoe “had great push off and was equal to or better than my Adrenalines. These days he runs halves in the just sub 1:40 range training 30-40 miles per week mostly at moderate paces on the roads and trails of New Hampshire and Utah. Nothing about them stand out as extraordinary, but my knees feel great during and after my run and my times are always faster than it felt like I was going. You have GuideRails in the Glycerin GTS 19 and you have a neutral support system in the Glycerin 19.

I can't attest with the light trail but I did run in some grass/dirt during my runs and the same testament of great grip was true. v=1653860894"}},"requires_selling_plan":false,"selling_plan_allocations":[]},{"id":36881106567321,"title":"6. This is a top-of-the-range running shoe with optimized cushioning for completing the longest and most demanding runs at a leisurely pace of over 4:30 minutes per kilometer. If you are familiar with the Brooks Transcend, you will notice a few tweaks from the Transcend 6 to the 7. The RW Takeaway: The Transcend is softer with a reconfigured midsole, making it an ideal trainer for pavement pounders. In the Glycerin 19 GTS, they've increased the total landing area of the heel and then increased the surface area through the forefoot as well.
