Lottie works herself ragged all day only to go home to more stress when dealing with her three kids at home and now an on/off relationship with Boyd. I liked the way the characters started off independent of each other only to be gradually linked together. They may also be used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement and measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. When a young woman is found hanged at home wearing a wedding dress Lottie and Boyd sense something is a little off.
Lottie's family is still important to her and part of what makes Lottie an interesting character as she tries to juggle single motherhood of teenagers with her high pressure job as a DI. One thing that wasn't picked up by me but now is and admired hugely is the tackling of what was seen as truths but some really misconceptions and seeing British during the war in a new light. On arriving at any crime scene, DI Parker is extremely impatient, but that’s merely her professional desire to get right on with a case - no time to waste - as well she knows, the first 48 hours in a case are crucial.My brow doesn’t break out into when she battles herself on her new budding feeling for her neighbor and wrestles with how these emotions both thrill her and terrify her. Looking at Cara’s bruised and battered body, she wonders who could have hated her enough to kill her at the happiest time of her life. One dark winter morning, bride-to-be Cara Dunne is found hanging in her home, dressed in her wedding dress, with a lock of hair removed.
Regarding those heavy subjects I just wanted to add that this book ends in a HEA for all characters involved. And let's be honest, no matter how safe you feel with someone you just met, is there not one part of you that keeps you even a little wary? When some hours later it’s discovered that Fiona’s 8 year old daughter Lily is missing, it’s down to DI Lottie Parker to not only make sense of it all, put all the pieces of the puzzle together, and see if these women were linked in any way, but more importantly to bring Lily back safe and sound. I don't think BROKEN SOULS was as exciting or as thrilling as past books but it was still marginally compelling. Broken Souls is full of so many emotions, pain, trauma, but most importantly it has a message of healing and hope. Thank you for reading my review, I hope you enjoy Patricia Gibney’s Lottie parker series as much as I do. The victims and suspects are all linked together in a complicated web of family ties and business dealings. Frasier does have some medical issues, including a grade 3 out of 6 heart murmur and some liver issues that he is on a special diet for.
If you love Karin Slaughter, Robert Dugoni and Rachel Caine, you'll be hooked by this heart-stopping thriller from Patricia Gibney. I was pretty irritated when I finished book 6, suggesting that perhaps it was time to wrap up the Parker series. If the home life wasn't stirred up enough there are two dead bodies both disguised as suicides and both dressed in wedding dresses.
His instincts to help Alicia and protect her come from his heart of gold, even if he is a bit moody about it.The plot is delivered in quite a fast pace through short chapters to represent the urgency of the case, in particular finding the lost little girl. It paces itself deliberately but with so much going on it's never once dull and the twists and turns that slowly unfold keep coming. Often with 'Foyle's War' it has been easy to pick out standouts, with no disrespect intended for any casts that for a vast majority of episodes are uniformly strong, not so here.
