About this deal

The ‘Let It Be’ album has been newly mixed by producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell in stereo.

This entry was posted in Apple Records, Beatles, Beatles Collecting, Beatles Music and tagged Apple Records, Beatles, Bell Sound, fake, Let It Be, Let It Be Variations, Let It Be versions, red Apple by beatlesblogger. The former was issued as a single in March 1970, and like all the album’s recording to this point, was produced by George Martin. It was released on 8 May 1970 by the band’s Apple Records label shortly after the group announced their break-up. During the rehearsal process, they asked Glyn Johns, who had been hired to help with the live sound, to attempt a mix to create an album. In April 1969, the Beatles issued the single Get Back, after which engineer Glyn Johns prepared and submitted mixes of the album – then titled Get Back and subsequently rejected – that were widely bootlegged before release.

The picture sleeve shows just light creasing to the laminate in places and a little minor wear leaving it a great Excellent example complete with the Apple-adresses inner. And it was only two weeks ago, after finally picking up a genuine copy at a record fair, that I could conduct a side-by-side analysis to spot the differences. The Super Deluxe Vinyl Special Edition slipcase box set houses 4 LPs, a 12" EP, and a 105-page hardbound book in slipcase.

Furthermore, depending on the Capitol pressing plant they originate from, legitimate pressings will have either the letters “IAM” in a triangle (Scranton PA), an asterisk (Los Angeles CA), or a mark that is supposed to resemble a rifle (Winchester VA). The project then yielded a single public concert held impromptu on the studio’s rooftop on 30 January, from which three of the album’s tracks were drawn. This measures 9½" x 16½" and is folded as designed, neatly at appproximately 12" to fit into the box.Started January 1969 as Get Back, the original idea was to record an album aux natural with as little of the production values that has graced their latter albums (Sgt Pepper, MMT, The White Album). All the new ‘Let It Be’ releases feature the new stereo mix of the album as guided by the original “reproduced for disc” version by Phil Spector and sourced directly from the original session and rooftop performance eight-track tapes. The album was delayed further and in fact became their 12th and final official album release on 8th May 1970 following additional production by American producer Phil Spector. My own copies (I have two – another variant lists the Fab Four as arrangers of "Maggie Mae" on the label) are all Scranton. Certain items can take longer to source than the estimated week, particularly during busy trading periods and may take longer to arrive at our warehouse.
