I don’t think I’ve personally read a book about a character facing agoraphobia but I think this would be a great story to read and learn more about it as well. To engage in a wholesale evacuation of an ENTIRE regional population in a 12 hour timespan seems absolutely next to impossible. This novel-in-verse tells the story of Maddie, a 12-year-old who is mistakenly left behind when her Colorado town is evacuated due to an imminent threat. Jonas watches his friend Fiona named Caretaker of the Old and his cheerful pal Asher labeled the Assistant Director of Recreation. But when his dependence on his eight-year-old daughter's companionship went too far, everything changed.

With this thought-provoking, often profound book, he proffers a hand to anyone who may have felt irrevocably, irredeemably alone and says 'me, too'. Still, I was able to suspend disbelief when it came to these things and got engrossed in the story pretty quickly!A multi-award winner, ALONE is told in verse, reading like a gripping novel, portraying a young teen’s struggle to survive.

At first, it seems as if Meridith really is alone, but as the book progresses we see a support system emerge. She goes through so much, and you can slowly see her perception changing of the world, her family, and her friends.In the hopes of earning enough money to get their own place, Mama has gotten Ophie a job as a maid in the same old manor house where she works. But even as she struggles with the morality of breaking the rules of the experiment, Celeste can’t deny her growing attraction to the kind and enigmatic Olivia Soldano. My eyes are always drawn to skin and the way you can see the calcified pistons and joints bend and protrude, testing the limits of the soft nets protecting them.

During that time, she has to scrounge for food and water and learn to survive in a world without power or running water (especially difficult due to the extreme weather in Colorado).She has decided that the only way to fix things is to go back in time to the moment before her brother changed all their lives forever - and stop him. She describes the day when she begins her period so probably this isn't for kids who havent had the Talk yet.

I know Megan's work well, so I was unsurprised to find that the verse in this book is utterly gorgeous--simple, understated free verse that is, at the same time, incredibly powerful. When Stella and her younger brother, Tom, move to their new London home, they become mystified by the disappearances of Harry, their elderly neighbor's small dog.
