About this deal

Oh, and most reviews have the lead as a female, because yes there is no gender in this, although I can't help but feel some got confused about the word 'feline'.

As with any good graphic novel, this is not a bedtime story or a whole class read but has a very important part in the classroom none the less. Trainee spy Agent 9 (a sharp-suited tabby cat) has a tendency to use extreme measures when fighting crime for top-secret organisation S4. Agent 9 will no doubt be relatable to many kids and even some parents for her suave but also adorable dialogue that will make anyone reading smile. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. If there is a sequel on the way, I would love to see more characters work alongside Agent 9, but the cast that we do get satisfies well enough to make for an enjoyable secret agent mission. Agent 9’s cute character design, in particular, is very engaging to watch and her wide range of expressions is just a joy to comprehend. He lives with his family in a secret base hidden on an ordinary street somewhere in Southern California. There are character-building moments, but the novel never forgets to have fun with itself to make the reader feel like they're on the ride of a lifetime.

But when bumbling supervillain King Crab manages to overtake S4 headquarters, there is no one else to turn to. While escapes, explosions, and scribbly, jewel-toned art will no doubt draw in younger readers, Burks’ dry humor will also keep a more sophisticated crowd engaged and chuckling. There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors. This crime-fighting caper is perfect for readers who like their adventures to be funny as well as exciting. The plot is fantastic fun and laugh-out-loud - the author clearly delights in using the narrative clichés of this genre with the bumbling secret agent and the super villain who can't resist blurting out his evil genius plan far too soon. With a blend of thrilling chase scenes and a generous helping of humor, this crowd pleaser should be catnip to fans of series like Aaron Blabey’s The Bad Guys. Candy Gourlay introduces Wild Song, her companion novel to Bone Talk, in which Luki and Samkad leave their home in the Philippines for America. But if you have a library full of kids who loved Investigators, they are going to love this one too.

Ross Welford introduces Time Travelling with a Tortoise, the sequel to Time Travelling with a Hamster, and a whole new time travel adventure! Could Supervillain King Crab be planning to overwhelm the super spy service so his evil plan can be put into action? The fact I saw it when it was over two years old and we've only had one sequel suggests the franchise didn't really take off, which was a surprise – there may be hundreds of books like this out there, but this was a friendly and enjoyable one, and for once not something so daft and gaudy people over a certain age were excluded. A joyous and charming book - entertaining and witty, this will have so many fans in school and will get passed around class with great delight. This is a super fun secret agent graphic novel with a likable, if flawed, feline agent and her wise robot fish FiN sidekick. After being put on probation for her clumsy actions when trying to stop evil threats, Agent 9 is given one more chance to redeem herself as she finds herself in the middle of an evil plot by King Crab as he plans to melt the polar ice caps and flood the earth so he can build his own water park. You guys are such a force for good and I am a passionate supporter of Indie booksellers, so I'm so happy this worked out well (I'd love to know how many books were sold if you have it to hand - it felt like quite a lot! It's interesting that Agent 9 isn't assigned a gender, so keeping the appeal open to boys and girls.

But before O can assign them a new mission, he and all the other ‘super-silly spy agents’ are kidnapped by supervillain King Crab.

Nine—along with a robotic partner named FiN—is all that stands between King Crab and his diabolical plans to melt the polar ice caps and build a massive water park. Agent 9, an impulsive feline agent, and her robot fish sidekick, FIN, must save the world from King Crab, the super villain, in this new high octane graphic novel. The main character, Agent 9, never seems to learn from past mistakes, making them much less endearing, but the supervillain's lines were good for some chuckles. He's spent over twenty years working undercover in the animation industry on movies and television shows, including Bravest Warriors, Space Jam, Treasure Planet, The Emperor's New Groove, The Powerpuff Girls, and The Iron Giant. Readers will be sure to keep an eye out for 9’s next adventure, but they’ll definitely want to give this first romp a few rereads in the meantime.
