The first film prepares you, to some extent, but if I have a criticism, it is that you need to be very alert and wide-awake to really enjoy this adventure, let alone understand it. In Across the Spider-Verse, he is older, wiser and more capable after going through the challenges of his first year as a high school-aged superhero.Bass is tremendous, adding significant impact to effects such as explosions, swinging, kicks and punches, with some truly subsonic LF effects that rattle the furniture. It is literally non-stop, there’s no respite, and every scene isn’t just fast-paced, it is also teeming, complex and multi-dimensional. Admittedly, Miles Morales was introduced into the comics around the time I stopped avidly reading the Big Two, so I’m only vaguely familiar with his character; and if anything….

Miles Morales, the charismatic Spider-Man at the heart of the movie, continues to evolve as a character, grappling with the responsibilities of being a superhero and the challenges of navigating the multiverse. The use of animation allows for incredible flights of fancy in creating non-human or semi-human friends and enemies, and the creators really let their imaginations run riot.

This is a review of the September 2023 All Region 2 disc Blu-ray set, containing the 2018 and 2023 animated super-hero adventures, ‘Spider-man: Into the Spider-Verse’ and ‘Spider-man: Across the Spider-Verse’, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Well, within minutes of the start of the first film, all our reservations were blown away ~ and how! Like a live action Into the Spider-Verse, No Way Home blows the doors open to the multiverse and ties up over two decades of Spidey adventures, with Sony's 4K Dolby Vision and Atmos release as spectacular as the titular character(s).
