About this deal

This was a kindle deal and since I'm in a bit of a romance mood at the moment, I thought I'd pick this up. A headbutt or a strike with the head to someone’s sensitive areaMeet Zara Smith: 29, single and muddling her way through life as a trainee nurse in Glasgow. A group of us are all reading this at the moment as part of our newly formed and made up book club and honestly we couldn’t have chosen a better book to start with… this is serious belly laugh, snort out loud material… we can’t put it down! This 30-something Glaswegian wrote A Glasgow Kiss from the collected accounts of her on-line dating experiences and those of her friends.

This is a short but sweet read full of humour and I enjoyed the use of text message conversation throughout! Her third book, Meet Me in Milan was also a number one best seller on pre-sales alone and it hits the shelves on the 17 th of August. Step into the love shack with Sophie as she dishes out dating disasters, romance gone wrong, and so much more, all served with a side-splitting dose of cringe as well as humour! The story is dull and predictable and even Glasgow as a setting is pointless because none of the geography makes sense (taxi from the Italian Centre to George Square? Currently working on her third novel, which continues the outrageously funny dating disasters of lead character Zara, Sophie's first book has sparked interest from a number of TV production companies. A student nurse just weeks away from finally qualifying, she hops onto dating apps to try and land herself a prince—but all she seems to find are frogs.

First, there’s Mark who she meets on a dating app and it’s going well until he does something strange. She had such a negative attitude and the message that being skinny because you’ve been so sad over a guy that you don’t eat was never addressed and almost written like it was a positive thing to happen. In a bid to settle down quickly and feel fulfilled, she turns desperately to online dating, and we watch her hilarious sexual escapades swirl out of control trying to bag the ideal man.In all the spilling and leaking and splashing, though, there’s humanity and compassion as one girl struggles through shame and self-doubt to find what everyone is looking for: love and a little tenderness. I feel bad giving this such a low rating, I did find this book a really easy read and I enjoyed reading a romance set in Glasgow and featuring places I know.

The second book in the series will be published in August and by then Sophie hopes to have found an agent.I also felt like she was quite stuck up, making negative comments about things like using the subway and taking busses like… have you been in Glasgow before? So, how big was he,” she screeched as she walked through the door into the kitchen, holding the Chinese bags in her hand. Cheered on by best friends Ashley and Raj, Zara embarks on a string of dating escapades that are as hilarious as they are disastrous.
