About this deal

It's dragging out the series far longer than it needs to be, and although I can see the relevance, I haven't connected with it the same way. I just recently finished A Light in the Flame and that one had the same issue, there were parts that I just wanted to get over so we can move on with the good bits. With over 6 million of the world’s best eBooks to choose from, Kobo offers you a whole world of reading. when Cas did it, i thought it was hot, but when Nyktos did it i just felt meh about it, because it didn’t really feel original.

The beginning of the book was engaging and addictive, and I loved it, but then the middle part got repetitive and dragged on, and then I think I was just too bored to truly appreciate the intensity of the last part, so I just found it to be a little mundane and redundant and an excuse to add smut to the book (it was a smut-fest for over 2 chapters). I will finish this book, eventually, just for the sake of the series, but this is not the first time she has done this. One thing that I always appreciate in Jen’s writing is that no matter what the characters never lose their spark or drive and they are no damsel. I wanted to spend a whole day with this book and instead I was skim reading entire paragraphs out of boredom. For a penultimate book in a series A Fire in the Flesh has a surprisingly tame ending and yet its just absolutely perfect and I thank the author for not leaving us on an incredibly heartbreaking moment.Ash has helped her to realize how messed up she was treated and how she deserves so much more, and now she has to face that struggle again with Kolis. I tolerate recapping at the beginning because I get it, but after that the story should keep moving forward.

Admittedly, personal tastes vary, but for me, their connection has been a highlight since the first book, and this installment only solidifies their status as an ultimate fantasy couple. Ohhhh and when a name appeared on the pages, that I never once thought we would see, I gasped out loud! Will listen to again to make sure I didn’t miss something and know where to skip when stuck in repetitive monologue. However, sometimes I needed to catch my breath, reassess and prepare because while I hoped I knew where things would go, there was always the fear it would not. Honestly, I didn’t know what I was expecting when I went into this book because I knew that with Sera now being captured by Kolis, this book wasn’t going to be a walk in the park, and I was right as much as I was wrong. IMO this is what happens when you only give ARC copies to readers in your cult fan group who refuse to give constructive criticism. I have my suspicions of what’s to come for Poppy and how the events of this book might tie into the FBAA universe. If I had to describe this book in one sentence it would be 'This is what happens when all-powerful beings don't go to therapy.

All the info being dumped into her head like where eather comes from, the ancients, and so much more. I was SO excited for this because the first and second are some of my favourite books of all time and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. It’s hard to talk about everything that made her so good in this book because it’s so centered around her and what she learns and goes through – it all feels like [potential] spoilers. Thank you for another great book and even though it’s only been 10 hours since released, im fully game for the next book lol. And as her abilities to feel pain and emotion begin to grow and strengthen, the Atlantians start to fear her.
