About this deal

party docks fried Switches because of shit power management sending more voltage than the Switch needed. I suspect it doesn't support being a USB host in general, which would explain why keyboards and mice didn't work for you. Oh, and the Switch’s implementation of USB-PD means that it also can accept 9V and 12V USB-PD chargers just fine (previous assumptions that chargers needed to support the 15V of the Nintendo charger are incorrect). You are also giving yourself the flexibility of an AC plug and not just a USB-C, so you can use it for other things as well.

For the sake of transparency, I’ll include any odd exceptions or edge cases here, and update this section as we learn about more. But the official charger with PD can charge super fast while playing Zelda, and that's why you should want PD. The charger and the device will negotiate and (usually) pick the highest voltage/current that the device and the charger can handle.I assume that the amps on the supply side can be higher -- it just means there's headroom when I use this brick.

I also have a separate addendum article listing the various chargers I’ve measured/tested to reach my conclusions.

With a 15-volt output, it provides quick and efficient charging to keep your gaming sessions going for longer.

When you plug it into the AC adapter the Switch pulls 5V but then asks the PSU "Do you support USB PD?

The difference between chargers, though, is going to be charging speed and/or whether it’s able to even operate. In conclusion, this replacement charger for is an excellent choice for gamers who are looking for a quick, efficient, and reliable way to charge their gaming console.
