About this deal

If Under Armor can be thanked for the design, it’s clear JBL’s sound-engineering expertise drives the device’s feature set. Active noise cancellation is present, and there are two modes to choose from: Everyday and Active.

Another great audio brand that has stepped into the exercise sphere is Jabra. The Jabra Elite Active 75t are IPX7-rated and forgo extreme battery life, though the Elite Active 75t is still very good, for a more compact and versatile design. You can EQ the sound in the Jabra companion app, and take a hearing test to create a custom sound profile. The Wireless Train may not have gotten as deep into the low end as the Adidas were capable of, but they still had solid, refined bass. More importantly, they simply filled out the rest of the frequency spectrum better. The Wireless Train have 40mm drivers with a frequency response range of 16-20,000Hz, and they prove to be exactly as capable as those specifications might suggest. Songs like Dierks Bentley’s Burning Man or the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ By The Way suggested the Wireless Train were able to avoid getting muddy or cramped. There are better sounding headphones –lots of them in fact — but for workout cans, these were more than sufficient. A big issue with the design is that the ear cups are small and, while the padding is soft and breathable, the headphones are still uncomfortable to wear for extended periods. More on this in a bit.

How long is the battery life of the Project Rock Over-Ear Training Headphones by JBL?

Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. See how we test. JBL says the headphones have an ingress protection rating of IPX4, which means they can handle splashing water, but can't really take much water pressure (like from a nozzle or jet) and shouldn't be submerged. Generally speaking, this is a fairly low IP rating for sports-focused audio gear, but on-ear headphones are a bit tougher to make completely waterproof. If a more watertight option is a priority, consider an in-ear pair. This same sweat resistance is evident with the ear cups. The padding around them is breathable, which helps relieve some sweat buildup, plus the pads are removable for easy cleaning. The inside of each cup brandishes either an “L” or “R” so you know which ears they go on. Bassheads will enjoy the bass emphasis of both the default frequency response and Dwayne Johnson’s custom EQ.

With a one-year warranty and a seemingly protective carrying case, I don’t think you need to worry about these headphones tapping out after just a few workouts. Keep them charged, and they should be everyday gym fixtures. Should you buy them? Ambient Aware technology allows you to listen to your music, but still be aware of your surroundings I wish the design felt a bit more substantial; the flimsy feel can be off-putting. You will also likely find that while the pressure on your ears to be uncomfortable, but it goes down after a short time. This is one of the more premium charging cases on the market: an aluminum cover sheathes a sliding plastic piece that holds the earbuds. One end of the case has a fabric loop, so you can clip it onto a bag or hang it from a wall hook. The other end of the case houses a rubberized flap to protect the USB-C port. For starters, this Sony HT-A5000 soundbar has Dolby Atmos support for immersive sound plus additional features, like 360 spatial sound that adapts to the environment, smart calibration to match your room, and much more. While previously, the Sony HT-A3000 was the best budget option in the series, this price drop should put the HT-A5000 on everyone's radar.I’m pleased that JBL has considered outdoor activities; however, personally I’ve had more use out of the dedicated Ambient mode. There are a couple of options to choose from: Ambient Aware pulls in all external noise to be heard alongside music; TalkThru lowers the volume and hones in on nearby conversations so you can engage in chit-chat without removing the headphones. Turn your headphones on, and hold the power slider up for three seconds. The headphones will enter pairing mode.

Active mode is best saved for runs, retaining a degree of noise-cancelling whilst letting in some ambient sounds to establish awareness of surroundings. HEADS UP: We're currently experiencing extended wait times on this customer service line. We're sorry for the delay, and are doing our best to resolve your inquiries ASAP. Rugged, on-ear design, with an IPX4 rating, built to withstand sweat in the toughest gym conditions The first start-up the Wireless Train is slightly quirky, at least if you’re like me and stubbornly refuse to read the fine print before trying out your new pair of headphones. The power button is a toggle switch that needs to be held in place for two seconds before powering up. From there, though, the headphones automatically enter pairing mode, allowing you to follow the standard procedure of pairing your mobile device through its Bluetooth settings.hour battery life with fast charging—Speed Charge gets 2 hours in 5 minutes & fully charged in 2 hours index-0 index-1 index-2 index-3 index-4 index-5 index-6 index-7 index-8 index-9 index-10 index-11 index-12 index-13 index-14 index-15 A built-in array of three mics allows for TalkThru mode—tapping the Under Armour logo on the outer panel of the right ear fades out your music and allows you to hear your surroundings without removing the headphones. For voice calls, the mic offers average intelligibility. Using the Voice Memos app on an iPhone 6s, we understood each word we recorded, though there were some typical, fuzzy Bluetooth audio artifacts. The inline mic for the cable delivers solid clarity, with some added bass depth.
