The Philadelphia Police Department Said It Is Too Busy to Reopen the Investigation

Following Ogrod’s release, what is the latest in Barbara Jean Horn’s murder investigation? Has it been solved today?

When Walter stood trial for the first time in October 1993, a jury didn’t initially buy the confession, and Walter was about to be acquitted when one jury member changed his mind, leading to a mistrial. Then, during his second trial in 1996, the prosecution relied on the testimony from a jailhouse informant named Jay Wolchansky, who claimed that Walter confessed to killing Barbara while they were in prison together. A jury convicted Walter of murder and attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sentencing him to death. All of this information came to light through a re-investigation by the Conviction Integrity Unit of the Philadelphia County District Attorney’s Office. DNA testing revealed that male DNA was found on Barbara’s body. It was not Walter’s, and there was no match in the system. As a result, Walter’s conviction was overturned in June 2020 after he spent more than two decades on death row, with the case against him being dismissed eventually. The DA’s office had two suspects but didn’t name them, only saying that one was dead and another was in prison for an unrelated crime. As of May 2021, Barbara’s case remains unsolved and has not been reopened by Philadelphia police. Kadosh, Matt (August 7, 2020). "Westfield's Dr. Virginia Apgar, Charles Addams Make NJ Hall of Fame". TAPinto . Retrieved August 7, 2020. Barbara Jean Horn was just four years old when she was sexually assaulted and murdered on July 12, 1988, in Philadelphia. She was playing outside her home when she disappeared and her body was later found, naked and beaten, in a plastic bag in a cardboard television box left out in the trash, court documents show. How Did Barbara Jean Horn Die?

First was But Who Wakes the Bugler? (Houghton & Mifflin, 1940) by Peter DeVries. [27] The other was Afternoon In the Attic (Dodd, Mead, 1950) by John Kobler. [28] He also provided the cover art for such books as The Compleat Practical Joker (Doubleday, 1953) by H. Allen Smith and Here at The New Yorker (Random House, 1975) by Brendan Gill. [29] After Ogrod’s conviction was vacated and he was released in June 2020, the question raised by everyone was, who really killed Horn? Unfortunately for Horn’s family, the Philadelphia police department has so far said it’s too busy to reopen the investigation. Patricia Cummings, head of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Conviction Integrity Unit, said, “As of today, I don’t think that appetite exists,” NBC Philadelphia wrote. Racing came more naturally to Charlie [Addams] than to Philip [Hamburger] and me; he has always been a collector of fast cars and in his youth he used to take part in races out on Long Island. He likes both fast cars and very old ones: in the nineteen-forties, he received as a present from the playwright Philip Barry, then living in East Hampton, a 1928 Mercedes-Benz, which Ellen and Philip Barry had driven on the Riviera in the gaudy twenties (the car was sacred for having been occupied by, among others, Sara and Gerald Murphy, Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald, Léger, and Picasso) and which eventually died, much mourned, in Charlie’s arms. Today [1975] he owns a 1926 Bugatti, a 1933 Aston-Martin, and, for purposes of ordinary transportation, a 1973 Alfa-Romeo.
