About this deal

We also meet some fun filled friends from her youth whom she hadn't seen in over 10 years since she had left. When we fast forward a number of years we find Grace a single mum of 3 boys and in a loveless and violent relationship. As a single mum of three, Grace has no idea what she’s going to do with it - but who can say no to a roof over their kids’ heads and a chance to get away from past hurts? I’m looking forward to reading the others in the series, and I don’t think I really grasped who was with whom and what businesses they ran so should be OK with potentially having read all the spoilers for the whole series! She knew she was now in Scotland and Burns was a popular surname around these parts, but she wasn’t sure that was the best name to use for a crematory service, though it definitely did what it said on the tin – or the urn.

He was a TV superstar and she was a down-to-earth, frazzled mother of three trying to make ends meet. gave a warm feeling as you read each page' Suzanne 'There's pretty much nothing I want more now than to escape to a small Scottish town and live in a cottage. Her old friends are so happy to see her after all these years, and they easily fall back into their banter.I became so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the book. It sort of sets the tone of his characters and shows how out of touch with the real world and everyday life he really is. All the characters are a delight to read about and the small town sounds idyllic combined with the rolling countryside and local beach. My huge thanks to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for my spot on the Blog Tour and for arranging my e-copy via NetGalley. Time is honestly money there and someone had to pick up the tab to reshoot that whole segment her kids ruined.

And a forever home Heartcross Castle is full of secrets - especially a lost security deposit box that holds the truth to everything. The story is well paced and starts on a sad and traumatic note where Grace finds herself as the new owner of the rundown Heartcroft Castle after escaping a toxic relationship without a penny to her name. The castle itself and indeed Scotland sound absolutely wonderful and are described in such lovely vivid detail by the author that you can picture if clearly as you are reading. There is realism, too, in the portrayal of a woman who has recently been experiencing domestic violence (and the effect on her children); this is well-done and not gratuitous or overly detailed but might be triggering. It was really heartwarming to read just how loved and missed Grace was and that her friends don’t hesitate to help her which just shows the wonderful community for what is really is – a family.

I found myself on a roll with crime books but couldn't resist requesting an advanced copy of the latest in Christie's wonderful Love Heart Lane series. She’s a bit excited to escape to the castle after a few years of living in poor accommodation, with an abusive ex. I found that I was going through every sort of emotion that the different characters were going through. Heartcross Castle is out now in ebook and audiobook formats, and will be available in paperback in March.

Once again Christie Barlow has written an emotional and warm story with wonderful supportive characters. Her life revolves around them and when she receives a letter she knows that this is the thing she has been waiting for. Still, it is a safe refuge for Grace and her boys as the latter start to thrive in this wonderful environment.Honestly, it has now got to the stage that I have to remind myself that these are fictional characters and not a real set of people I am catching up with. With an obnoxious neighbour and a run down castle on her hands Grace wonders if she has made a huge mistake coming home, but will the villagers welcome her or not? Although it starts in this dark place, it quickly moves on through community support and the strength of Grace in seeking out a better life. She was brought up by her grandfather Marley following the death of her mother and as she grows into her teen years, clashes with him which in turn sees her leaving home and Scotland. His commitment and dedication to the Power family is so sweet and his love for his best friend’s grandsons is so emotional and beautiful.

The romance between her and a tenant on her property, the handsome Andrew Glossop, a millionaire chef, was a slow burn. Heartcross Castle is book number seven in the series and again as with all the books it can easily be read as a standalone but let’s face it why would you do that and leave it at reading just one book?
