About this deal

I will also be installing Tado smart wireless radiator valves to 4 of the rooms which will have their own temperature control. The CM700 range of programmable room thermostats is designed for social housing provider and specifier market needs by providing automatic time and temperature control of domestic heating premises. They are particularly relevant for underfloor heating where there is a high, low response thermal mass (the floor slab) to control. They say it is a great product that allows them to set differing temperatures during the day and on different days.

Fairly easy to programme - gives four different settings (temperature) a day at times to suit you - easy to repeat for repetitive days, or have separate settings daily as needed, eg weekends or regular early starts. It has been working brilliantly up until a few weeks back when the screen just went blank, i changed the batteries and it started working again but is reading the room temperature wrong.

I note it does have a 'Temp Offset' feature that can change the displayed temp in relation to the room temp. Wiser however has a memory built into the TRV head, so it knows at what point to start turning off, so can reheat a room faster. I’m not an Engineer and so this is a DIY project for my own home so any advice in laymans terms would be extremely helpful. Equally though it can be programmed for completely different times every day of the week making it much more customable for individual lifestyles.

If you do use the PI function, leave it to self learn for a week or so before you change the temperatures and confuse it. The T3 Honeywell Programmable Thermostat - Volt Free is a high-quality, easy-to-use programmable thermostat that can help you save energy and money on your heating bills. The thermostat only switches on when, for example, the difference deviates more than 2˚C from the set room temperature. When following the app instructions, (ST9100c) i'm prompted to select Hot Water or Heating for which this controls. This will also need wiring changes as right now, the wall thermostats control the opening of the valves. I bought this thermostat controller as a temporary replacement while my other thermostat was repaired.

To further improve the ease of use and assist installation, the CM700 range includes a large LCD display. So we want a wall thermostat that on warm days will switch off the boiler, it seems odd, but a large difference between on and off temperature is actually an advantage, you don't want the boiler switching back on again if the sun is out and we have a warm day.The CM700 range has a scheduled maintenance alert fault diagnostic mode and automatic Summer/Winter time change to assist in maintenance.

Personally I'd go with option 2 as it's almost guaranteed to be cheaper to implement and will still retain the two zone pipework. Anyway, you can just terminate this in the wall box (if you can track it I'd also disconnect the other end and leave safe just for consistency). There is a problem where zone valves are used, Wiser thermostats will only allow use of the Opentherm module when single channel, so with new builds often there are zone valves, so they will not work with the OpenTherm module, EPH seems to be the odd one out, it does not link to TRV heads, but it can work as master/slave, so even with zone valves it can still control boiler with OpenTherm. This will reduce heat losses slightly as you'll only be pumping heat around the circuit that needs it. To ensure proper operation of the programmable room thermostat, study user guide, presented in a convenient graphical format that contains 16 pages with useful information.

By setting specific time periods and temperatures, you can ensure that your home is always at the optimal temperature when needed, helping to save on energy costs. The chronotherm CM700 series are programmable room thermostat based on Resideo's proven CM20 programming philosophy.
