About this deal

Crafted by Suntory at their Hakushu Distillery, nestled deep in Mount Kaikomagatake, in the stunning Akaishi Mountains.

Keizo Saji, the second Master Blender, inherited his father’s quest to push the boundaries of what a Japanese whisky could be. A light peat combined with moist forest floor, bamboo, grass, but more warm than bitter and a pinch of anise and tarragon. The distillery says: “The Hakushu 12 YO Peated Single Malt is comprised of meticulously selected malt whiskies all aged for a minimum of 12 years in various casks, created in honour of House of Suntory’s centenary. The Hakushu Distillery is one of the highest distilleries in the world, built amidst the deepest forests of Mt. In the event of any safety concerns or for any other information about a product please carefully read any instructions provided on the label or packaging and contact the manufacturer. The Hakushu Distillery was founded half a century after Yamazaki Keizo Saji inherited his father’s vision in his quest for innovation and constructed this second Suntory distillery in 1973. The malt whiskies born here are simultaneously blessed with a very particular microclimate, verdant forests, and water offering a rare softness and purity, only made possible by filtration of rain and snow through thousand-year-old granite rocks.

White is a sacred colour in Japan, and the name is derived from alluvial deposits cast up by the rivers which water the district, rushing down from the mountain above in crystal-clear cascades, filtering through granite rocks and filling subterranean caverns and springs. Smooth yet smoky, crisp and refreshing, it’s one that every whiskey connoisseur should have in their cabinet.Hakushu is nestled deep in the Mountains of Japan's Southern Alps and with a local water source of exceptional purity the 'house style' shows wonderful freshness and delicate peaty notes. Hakushu is one of the highest distilleries in the world located deep in the forests of Japan's Southern Alps. This Japanese 12 year old whisky is just superb, everything about it is perfectly balanced from the very first nosing, typical Japanese know how from start to finish.
