About this deal

On top of QLED panels, the 5-Series also gets HDR10+ and Dolby Vision as well as Dolby Atmos support for all the spatial audio fans. For gamers, the 5-Series adds in VRR and ALLM support, too, though it’ll only do 4K/60Hz. All told, the 5-Series upgrades image quality, audio, and gaming performance in key areas over the 4-Series. As you make your way up TCL’s lines, TCL TVs will offer HDR10+, HLG, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, gaming-focused features like ALLM and VRR, and even QLED panels. The 6-Series will even offer up Mini-LED support and 8K support, too. Unsurprisingly, the more features you want, the more money you’ll be spending.

What’s New for TCL TVs in 2022?

In fact, the 55C735K even supports the Dolby Vision IQ system, where the advanced Dolby Vision picture settings can automatically adjust themselves to compensate for the amount of ambient light in your room so that you still get the right level of HDR impact.

The video processing and upscaling are competent, although not as impressive as some of the more expensive brands. However, the RC630K does a decent job of upscaling lower-resolution content to match the 4K panel, and the processing can help minimise any nasty compression artefacts. The TCL 55C635K has a wide viewing angle, which allows viewers to enjoy the picture from almost any position in the room. This is especially important for larger rooms or spaces where multiple people will watch the TV. You won’t find a traditional Filmmaker mode, as TCL has its own Film mode (or Movie mode, depending on your region!) with the same intention of delivering the picture as originally intended, along with a Sport mode. Everything from the C735K and above also comes with Calman Ready 3D LUT colour calibration, along with Adaptive Picture and an ambient sensor. On the audio front, all but the cheapest LCDs come with Dolby Atmos as standard, with both the QLED and Mini LED models using an Onkyo sound system – with the C835 and C935 adding an extra channel or two, along with Adaptive Sound tech (the latter also found on the C735). The GPU processes computer graphics calculations. It is actively used in games, video decoding/playing, user interface visualization and so on. Its parallel architecture allows for its usage in specific calculations, which are processed more effectively by the GPU than by the CPU. One of the biggest differences is that it runs the Roku OS operating system, which has a different layout to Android TV, but many of the same apps. It's another QLED TV – hardly surprising, given TCL's enthusiasm for the technology – but has more basic audio-visual technologies.
