The incense, orris, and the benzoin give it an oriental vibe at times, but my favorite part is the sillage. This is synthetic shadows and disposable pen ink on a bed of Iso E Super, minty cypress, and oozing vetiver.

When i had tried the women’s version for the first time, i was a little bit disappointed, because i’ve expected something in common with the men’s version. I find the smell of ink strangely comforting and I enjoy grinding an inkstick against an inkstone time to time – it’s almost meditative.

I have already finished a quarter of the bottle cause I need to spray it 10-15 times to have it last any decent amount of time, and even at that it's 2 hours maximum. So the scent profile isnt anything amazing, its a realistic woody smell, "decorated" with some bergamot and incense that add a bit of sweetness (that in no way makes it a sweet fragrance though, its just an addition to make the fragrance a bit more bearable). After that I tried 40 knots expecting to find a new versatile scent to wear to the office and spent the rest of that day wanting to scrub it clean from my body. These frags from Lalique are a great way to get into more challenging niche scents and mature that nose without breaking the bank. Note: it does not smell anything like Sauvage; I’m simply saying that for me Encre Noire A L’Extreme has similar versatility and captivating room presence to Sauvage. These first 5-10 minutes are a bit too much for me personally, but once it settles it is really beautiful.Having to bury my nose in my wrist to get any of it is annoying, but this is quite an enjoyable cool, chemical sort of scent.

Here the additional woods round the edges of the original EN, and make it smoother, warmer and more wearable.Projection, longevity on my skin was exactly as you can find in many of the reviews, but suddenly the perfume started to underperform? I've noticed that the compliments I receive while wearing this comes from a very wide variety of people. The damp, fresh and woody smell from those newly chopped trees and branches, also some tiny hints of the exhaust smell from the Chainsaw.
