For those looking for a similar adidas sneaker but looking to save the maximum amount of cash – take a look at Donovan Michell’s 3rd shoe. Support has almost never been an issue for adidas and the Dame 5 is no exception – expect a sturdy build that will take a bit to break in but eventually, it’s a well-balanced package that won’t overly restrict you. Early impressions left me underwhelmed from an aesthetic point of view but I’ve been anticipating these to be another solid performance shoe. Part of the reason is that there is just less foam volume and the fact the use a thinner insole now versus the Dame 2. Switching to foam allows the wearer to feel that foam just a little more since the foam strobel is softer and more flexible than a typical fiberboard so it kind of evens things out.

This section I didn’t like, not from a performance aspect as it played just fine, but it’s just noticeably cheap. Because it’s as thick as it is, they’d make for a very solid outdoor option for anyone that plays primarily outside.

I’ve been collecting bad experiences going down in my shoes lately so I’m going TTS almost exclusively (minus on the Marquee Boost when you really emphasized the need to go down which, thankfully, payed off). It just won’t give you the look of premium leather but that might not be an issue if you’re just using these on-court. I just got the Black Panther colorway and the rubber definitely feels different in grip from the People’s Champ colorway.

I really loved playing in the Dame 4 on clean floors or when freshly wiped but guess what, they fixed it on the 5. However, there are many reviews of the other pairs, they say that the Kyrie Low 5 is great for explosive movements and they are good, but they do not have good cushioning.I’d still look for a solid, non-translucent outsole if you’re aiming for 100% outdoor play, for maximum durability. Breeze past defenders on the fast break, show your coach you're all effort with a tip-in or a big-time offensive rebound–or, better yet, let it fly from deep just like Dame. I’ve had a single pair of Dame 5’s (the ones I reviewed) with translucent outsoles for nearly two years now and the traction is still intact.
