About this deal

Finally if you want to see what I wrote about the second book of short stories from the Witcher, it is available here: The Witcher: The Sword of Destiny For reasons unknown, some of the translations have "Swallow" in its plural form in the title while the original, the Polish title is in singular form. Thus, the most correct translation would be "Tower of the Swallow" or "The Swallow's Tower". The mentioned swallow is a representation of a single person so it feels like a rather big error in translation. The error itself might be related to Polish language complexity; the word "Jaskółki" in itself is in a plural form, however in a phrase "Wieża Jaskółki" it is not, here it is in its 2nd (of 7) declination case. New Powers as the Plot Demands: If you are a descendant of a long line of Elven eugenic experiments, it's only natural that magical powers bubble up unexpectedly.

But I don't think there will be enough space and moreover, I don't think I can put them in words properly! Avallac’h and Auberon believe the humans “stole” the Lara gene from the elves when Lara bore Cregennan’s child, shattering their prophecy. Avallac’h in The Witcher books The Rats, after being explicitly told they can receive amnesty if they keep their heads down and being aware of Leo Bonhart's reputation as someone who singlehandly wiped out entire gangs, decide to confront him in broad daylight. To be fair, six against one does sound like pretty good odds. Unfortunately for them, it was good odds for Leo. What do you think? Is Avallac’h ruthless, racist, and power-hungry, or is he just doing what he has to do to protect his fellow elves? Share your thoughts with us in the comments. There’s also the difference between the books and the game. It’s easier to call Avallac’h evil in the Witcher books because we learn about his imprisonment of Ciri and nasty attitude towards humans.

Geralt, who is wary of Avallac’h’s intentions throughout the game, agrees to explore the lab with Yennefer and Ciri. They discover a large genealogy tree and extensive notes charting the Lara gene and Avallac’h’s attempts to replicate it. Because Destiny Says So: Esterhazy the sword-merchant, who parted with the best sword in his shop for free, because he realized something bigger is going on. Destiny is a big deal in this series, after all. Little Miss Badass: In the last chapter, Ciri finally shows what she's made of - no more killing on pure reflex, no more running, no more trembling with fear. No, now she's rationally decided that the people pursuing her have to die, and sets about killing them deliberately, and she does so with great efficiency.

Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Bonhart tries to charge at the Wild Hunt to go after Ciri. Unfortunately, his horse is terrified of the wraiths and crashes through the ice, nearly killing Bonhart and giving Ciri enough time to vanish into the Tower of the Swallow. Although elves might not experience love the same way as humans, it’s clear that Avallac’h cared about Lara. Moreover, her abandoning Avallac’h for a human, a race he views as inferior, is painful and still affects him. Avallac’h in Witcher 3 Fantastic Drug: Fisstech (effectively, cocaine) is first introduced in this book and then retroactively spread across the world.

Tropes found in the book:

As for Ciri’s crush, sure, there’s some suggestion there, but to me personally, it didn’t feel overt enough to draw a concrete conclusion. She obviously cares for Avallac’h deeply. He saved her life more than once, they traveled together for a long time. He did make an incredible sacrifice by allowing himself to bear the curse. But the nature of her feelings for him are unclear. I guess that all comes down to perspective and interpretation though. Which is the beauty of playing the games — everyone experiences them differently and draws different conclusions. 🙂 Reply

And Ciri... oh Ciri. Almost raped by a man and then raped by a woman she then deludes herself to fall in love with said woman. Instead of returning home to Cintra or Caer Moren she decide to murder and pillage. She is so unable to make decisions for herself it makes me mad everytime I read about her. Well if anything at least she is able to swing her fking sword without falling on it. Not like her older counterpart. On the surface, Avallac’h’s main goal throughout the books is to marry Auberon and Ciri to produce the Child of the Elder Blood and fulfill Ithlinne’s Prophecy. After 8 days of inhabiting the Elves’ capital city, Tir ná Lia, Ciri learns that they wish for her to bear a child with their king, Auberon Muircetach, presumably to fulfill Ithlinne’s Prophecy. She regards Ciri with disgust, calling her a “degenerate half-breed” whose only purpose to Avallac’h is to help him with his task. After Ciri “does what she must”, the elf claims that Avallac’h will finally be free of her.Geralt first encounters Avallac’h on his journey to find the druids of Caed Dhu. He hoped the druids would be able to help him find Ciri using magic.

In the Tower of Swallows, Geralt of Rivera sets out to climb the tower to rescue poor Ciri. We follow his journey up the tower and we face plenty of challenges and adventures along the way. Is Yennefer in Tower of Swallows? There’s also the fact that Ciri gets visibly upset when the female elf at Avallac’h’s lab implies that he is only interested in Ciri for his work and can’t wait to be rid of her. Ciri is in fact so mad after meeting her she wants to destroy the lab. Is Avallac’h Good or Evil? When Avallac’h reveals that he knows Geralt’s name, profession, and mission to find Ciri, Geralt concludes that he can foresee the future. One day, old Vysogota finds a very badly injured girl in the swamp surrounding his retreat. He saves her life and she tells him her story... the story of Ciri and how she became a cruel killer meeting death at every step. Until she met her retribution - Leo Bonhart, who killed her fellow bandits and captured her. Whatever Rience and Vilgefortz do to Yennefer's fingers, Ciri later describes her hands as a formless mass of clotted blood. Yennefer can use them again in book seven but only thanks to her sheer stubbornness. The world has fallen into war. Ciri, the child of prophecy, has vanished. Hunted by friends and foes alike, she has taken on the guise of a petty bandit and lives free for the first time in her life.
