Hibbs, Brian (August 18, 2021). "Tilting at Windmills #285: Looking at NPD BookScan: 2020". The Beat . Retrieved August 22, 2021. For instance, when Petey tries to explain to his son why he struggles so with his deep-seated feelings, as well as dealing with the mean-hearted, hurtful things his father did, he gently says: “Look, kid … sometimes bad things happen … and you can’t just forgive … and you can’t forget! Sometimes all you’ve got left is hate!” Li’l Petey hugs his dad and replies: “I don’t know, Papa. Hate has caused a lot of problems in this world … but it hasn’t solved one yet.” Mr. Riles Rected – Mr. Rected is the guidance counselor at Jerome Horwitz Elementary School. He is very nasty to students, especially George and Harold, and he is often seen hanging with Mr. Krupp, Mr. Meaner, Miss Anthrope, and Ms. Ribble. His name is a pun on the word "misdirected." He is also voiced by Brian Posehn in the film and Jorge Diaz in the animated series. Frequently challenged books of the 21st century." American Library Association. Retrieved on October 25, 2013. Ms. Tara Ribble – Ms. Ribble is the homeroom teacher of George and Harold's 4th-grade class. In book 5, she is hypnotized into becoming Wedgie Woman. Her name is a pun on the words "terrible" and "miserable." Voiced by Dee Dee Rescher in the movie and Laraine Newman in the TV series.

Carl, Trixie and Frankenbooger (The Three Robo-Boogers) – Boogers who all come from the Bionic Booger Boy. They all share a weakness to oranges, which Captain Underpants successfully used to destroy the rampaging trio of living mucus. Carl had the Bionic Booger Boy's legs, Trixie had the tentacles, and Frankenbooger had the arms. Whenever they eat, they become bigger and more evil. The Invasion of the Incredibly Naughty Cafeteria Ladies from Outer Space (and the Subsequent Assault of the Equally Evil Lunchroom Zombie Nerds) (1999) The Talking Toilets – An army of living toilets created by George and Harold, who were accidentally brought into the real world with a modified photocopier. They could only say "Yum Yum Eat em Up!" Captain Underpants and the Invasion of the Incredibly Naughty Cafeteria Ladies from Outer Space (and the Subsequent Assault of the Equally Evil Lunchroom Zombie Nerds) (1999) Captain Underpants Presents: F.A.R.T.S. The Major Motion Picture (Made appearances in Super Diaper Baby 2: The Invasion of the Potty Snatchers )

Captain Underpants and the Invasion of the Incredibly Naughty Cafeteria Ladies From Outer Space: Color Edition". Barnes & Noble . Retrieved January 10, 2015. The Bionic Booger Boy ( Melvin Sneedly) – A fusion of Melvin Sneedly, boogers, and a super-powered robot. His growth is triggered by a field trip to a tissue factory. This hero is the result of an explosion that nearly killed a hard-working policeman and his loyal police dog. But instead of letting both perish, the fast-thinking medical professionals stitched the uninjured head of the loyal pup to the hard-working body of the good-guy cop, and Dog Man was born. And he has continued fighting crime and keeping the city safe from evildoers ever since. Somewhat torn with this review. Read them during tutoring. The student loved them and couldn't get enough. His growing love of reading was a direct result of this series. I really didn't care for them (maybe because I am a female) but continued reading because they developed a love of reading for my 8 yr old male pupil and isn't that the reason for literature. We may not all have the same taste but we need to appreciate and respect other people's choices. The Adventures of Ook and Gluk Jr: Kung-Fu Cavekids in Outer Space (most likely completely cancelled due to the discontinuation of the first Ook and Gluk book)

There's a teacher at my school who always says "No Dog Man!" to her kids. She's obviously never read his books. I love this series and will continue to "accidentally" give the books to her kids every chance I get. The Dog Man series has become one of my favorites. It’s simple, cute, and real. Dav Pilkey knows how to talk to readers and reluctant readers alike. This series is perfect for kids you have to bribe and beg to sit down and read. Dog Man will pull them in for sure!Captain Underpants and the Big, Bad Battle of the Bionic Booger Boy Part 2: the Revenge of the Ridiculous Robo-Boogers (2018) Dog Man: Grime and Punishment: From the Creator of Captain Underpants (Dog Man #9) (9) by Pilkey, Dav (Hardcover) The Lunch Ladies – The Lunch Ladies are the three women who run the cafeteria. They are notorious for cooking horrible, inedible, and possibly lethal food. They quit in the third book when Mr. Krupp says he cannot punish George and Harold for their antics without proof, though they are possibly rehired after the replacements are revealed to be aliens. Two of the Lunch Ladies are named, Miss Creant, the head lunch lady, and Mrs. DePoint, the cook. The revealed names are puns on the word "Miscreant" and the phrase "Misses the point". Si bien estos cómics son más amigables que los ya mencionados también hacen guiños al lector adulto

When Grampa invents the Motor Brain, Big Jim sings Itsy Bitsy Spider, which Grampa finds annoying and yells at him, Big Jim starts crying, then Grampa says he needs his help to test the Motor Brain, after which Big Jim tests it and becomes Snug. A little bit later Grampa asks Snug for the Motor Brain, Snug tosses it, and then Grampa wears it and turns into Crud. Later Crud is caught in a trap set by Dog Man, who is disguised as a cat. However, he manages to escape. After that, he makes a lunch bag monster called Munchy and tries to take over the world. Later on, Petey forgives and stops hating him, which Grampa finds it confusing and annoying. He throws the Motor Brain but it was found by Big Jim who puts it on to become Snug again and chases Grampa. Grampa has a ginger striped body with a complete tail, unlike Petey. He has 6 whiskers (he pulled one off in Dog Man: Fetch-22 when he switched places with his son, which he now has 5), a stubble from a shaved beard, and his skin color is slightly darker than Petey, to show his age and distinguish him from his son. He also wears a pair of round glasses. Although the first few books came out regularly, the ninth book, Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Return of Tippy Tinkletrousers (advertised in a teaser at the end of the eighth book), was not released until 2012, after a six-year wait. During this time, Dav Pilkey was caring for his terminally ill father, who died in 2008. [17] In 2009, he signed a deal with Scholastic for four new books, the first of which was The Adventures of Ook and Gluk: Kung-Fu Cavemen from the Future, released August 10, 2010. The second was Super Diaper Baby 2: The Invasion of the Potty Snatchers, released June 28, 2011. [18] The third book, Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Return of Tippy Tinkletrousers, was released August 28, 2012. The fourth book, Captain Underpants and the Revolting Revenge of the Radioactive Robo-Boxers, was released January 16, 2013. Miss Singerbrains – Miss Singerbrains is the librarian at Jerome Horwitz Elementary School who banned all but one of the books in the library and eventually closed down the library. Her name is a pun on saying she is "missing her brains."Robo-George and The Harold 2000 – Two giant robots built by Wedgie Woman based on George and Harold. They were fully obedient to Wedgie Woman; each had a vast arsenal of powerful weapons and gadgets and were programmed to destroy Captain Underpants once they heard him say "Tra-la-laaa!" This is the most serious of the Dog Man books so far, with a surprisingly deep examination of loss and forgiveness as the story explores the relationship between Petey and his father. Do you know someone who has lost a loved one? Or who’s been hurt by someone? How would you help them with their sad feelings? Would you need to say anything at all? What can you do? Mr. Rusworthy – Mr. Rusworthy is (according to his tie) the music teacher of Jerome Horowitz Elementary school. His name is a pun on the word "Mistrustworthy". In the series, he is replaced by a different music teacher, Ms. Herd (a pun on “misheard”). Actually, there are quite a few Christian values at play here, even if they’re not specifically spelled out in a biblical context. One of those is the need, for our own sake as well as the sake of others, to find a way to forgive someone who’s wronged us.

Please note that no photos of my children are to be republished on another blog under any circumstances. Evil George and Evil Harold – Alternative versions and negative counterparts of George and Harold from an alternate dimension who are both intelligent and evil. They are the main antagonists, along with Captain Blunderpants, of the 8th book in the series. They helped Captain Blunderpants and unlike the sketchy, amateurish George and Harold they are good authors and illustrators (ironically, the main George and Harold consider the alternative George and Harold's work inferior). Additionally, they also tended to change the signs into evil phrases (while their counterparts often change the signs into funny words). STATE OF CENSORSHIP: UNABRIDGED CONTRIBUTIONS FROM OUR PARTICIPANTS". National Coalition Against Censorship. A dark grey cell indicates that the character was not in the property or that the character's presence in the property has yet to be announced.Dav Pilkey had looked to turn the books into a possible TV series, and he had imagined Chris Farley in the titular role. Around the same year the first book debuted to the public, Farley died of a drug overdose. [29] Defunct animation studio Soup2Nuts also attempted to produce an animated series based on the books in the early 2000s. [30] Petey's dad. He's a selfish, egotistical meanie who currently resides in Cat Jail. Petey and Li’l Petey no longer associate with him.
