Alcohol kills bacteria and viruses through a simple chemical process, where the alcohol molecules break down the bacteria. They were already dabbling in natural home care products when Purdy’s sons Charlie and Jack suggested they try making a hand sanitising spray. The smells are adorable and don’t know which one to start with, my house will be glorious when I’m finished my clean today! The reason we don’t use hand sanitisers (or products that contain over 70% alcohol) to clean our homes is that they do not smell great, the high alcohol content can sometimes be irritating if applied in large quantities, and it is not actually needed.

The new hand sanitiser comes in eye-catching 50ml recyclable glass bottles and is certified to European antibacterial standards (EN1276). Many of us (particularly those who live in hard water areas) know the struggle of maintaining a sparkling bathroom with the dreaded streaks and deposit build-up. Though alcohol is the number one ingredient when it comes to hand sanitiser, we wanted to use a number of other botanical and natural ingredients to create a unique product.Before the birth of the brand, the duo dabbled in ‘Breaking Bad’ style experiments at their Buckinghamshire home as they were concerned about the harsh chemicals and toxins people were using on their skin. It’s also a good idea to clean the basin a bit more regularly (the sink is often dirtier/contains more bacteria than a toilet seat! The uplifting fragrance of pink grapefruit, sweet orange, and the aromatic naiouli flower, power our beloved original citrus hand sanitiser. If you know you are allergic to naturally occurring allergens, for example Citral or Citronellol, we recommend you avoid using the product. The bathroom clean has just completely cleared all the limescale marks and I live in a hard water area!

They send you a starter kit of re-usable metal bottle and sachets of crystals you mix with water, the sachet is compostable. Bathroom Bliss features a brand new formula specially designed by our in-house chemist Dr Anna Slastanova to leave bathrooms positively gleaming! Essentially it both ensures that the bad stuff comes off the surface and that the bacteria and viruses get broken down so they can’t survive. Whilst antibacterial products will kill bacteria (if left to work for the appropriate amount of time), they won’t remove the bacteria from the surface.
