About this deal

When filing or sanding models, take care to ensure any particles or dust are not inhaled; it is best to do this in a well ventilated area. When you’re sculpting do you get halfway or nearly done a mini and just scrap it entirely, or do you try and salvage some of that work normally? All Out War draws from the Walking Dead comics rather than the TV show, but it's a tense, bloody experience for fans of both. Image: Mantic Games Green Lizards– again, similar to a mouse in terms of stats, but slightly better at remaining hidden.

At its heart, the gameplay for Burrows & Badgers is simple to learn and hard to master as you get used to your different strengths and weaknesses. The wealth of different races in the game means that every time someone makes a warband they are approaching things from a different angle.A flamethrower might be a bit more off the wall though. This Weasel looks rather happy with his latest acquisition and I would fear being a poor bug when this fellow is stomping around.

The Medium beasts also use a 30mm base. Hedgehogs have Spines, which helps them survive in combat; with Heavy Armour and a Shield, they can make decent tanks. Their d8 Presence stat makes them acceptable Light, Unbound and Noble magic casters too.Of the two games, Frostgrave has been around a lot longer, so is more content-rich as far as expansions go. But generally, it's all about which flavour of excuse for people shooting lasers from their hands you prefer. Large Hounds are reliable fighters; not exceptional, but their strength and toughness gives them a decent edge.

Massive Birds have a reasonable statline; nothing incredible, but they have Flight, and d8 Fortitude and Presence means they can be fairly good spell casters. Finally, we come to the Massive beasts; they go on a 50mm base, and you can only take a maximum of three. We’ll start with the tiddlers of the bunch; the Small beasts. They all go on a 30mm base, and there’s only four of them, but they do have some key differences. First up is the archetypal anthropomorphic animal, the mouse. However, once the dust had settled on that little escapade the next few were a breeze and delight to paint and I’m well pleased with how they have turned out. I also completed a couple of dwarves which I will post about another time. Each allegiance will also get themselves a Den which works as your base of operations throughout the campaign. This is something that might inform your choice of terrain during games and have you tinkering around with all sorts. These can also be upgraded throughout a campaign which is neat, giving them a character all of their own.The first few of the big ones we did have in metal to begin with. So a couple of the badgers and that were in metal but you just get casting problems with them really. When they’re single piece models just the sheer volume of it overheats the moulds, so you get burning and pitting on the model and the moulds don’t last very long. And then it just puts limits on things. Once we switched to resin, we could do things like the red kite, which it’s just a position that you couldn’t do in a metal mould. It just gives us better options and has made a big difference on postage since they’re so much lighter. Frogs have a very similar statline to mice, making them average at best. The Leap skill can be useful, but it depends largely on your terrain setup. Moles are slow, and their Short Sighted Skill makes them poor at shooting. But the Tunneller Skill provides some interesting options for deployment. When you first start choosing a Warband, the sheer number of options can be a bit confusing. People keep asking us endless questions; which races work well together, are mice any good at fighting, should I just get foxes, and should they all be wizards? Complicated stuff, obviously…

Some may die, others may be gravely wounded. At times your characters will perform daring feats and escape with all the glory (and gold!). Burrows & Badgers is about being able to tell a story and weave a narrative on the tabletop, getting to know your handful of miniatures and have those as tales for the campfire (real or miniature!) in years to come. Making WarbandsGames are fun, fast-paced and full of very cinematic moments as you see your characters clashing. We’ve had some really fun last stands, valiant and heroic battles against stronger enemies and also a lot of fun too! Everything you do in Burrows & Badgers helps to reinforce that story you tell afterwards. Scenarios & Secrets! Frostgrave and Stargrave have official miniatures available, or you can just use your spare Warhammer. We love seeing what you've been up to and it would be awesome for us to share our hobby during this trying time so we can all get a bit of inspiration! You can spend hundreds collecting X-Wing's pre-painted ships, but the game's starter set will give you an X-Wing and two TIE Fighters plus everything you need for well under our budget.
