My only real concern is the F.M. performance, it is far below average, and sounds hissy on most stations!. I don't know if this is normal for this radio, or if mine has not been tuned properly in the factory.

Compared directly to the original Evoke 2, the new model is noticeably better in terms of clarity and coherence and especially speech intelligibility. Crucially, though, it remains unflappable even when pushed to maximum volume. Throw high-quality music files at it (from iPods etc) and the output remains composed right up to the output's limit, which we found impressive. The DAB sound quality is fantastic, I tend to listen to some stations that are only available on Medium Wave and the sound quality with DAB is perfect, no distortion even at full volume and this radio is really loud! Even when compared to the FM band also provided DAB is noticeably clearer and of course comes without the FM 'hiss'. Overall I have to say that I am very happy with my Pure Evoke 2. I had considered buying an Evoke 1 but the thing that put me off was they are only mains powered and I wanted a portable radio that was truly portable so I decided to wait for the Evoke 2.
