About this deal

Rooting Gel is specifically created for use with any pre-formed propagation plugs (rooting sponges are recommended) but it can also be used with stone wool plugs, peat plugs, coco coir fibre, compost and soil. The key to success is to harvest the shoots of the newest growth in spring. Look for new green shoots, these are typically the tips on the branches. Cut around 10 cm from the end of the tip. Harvest from 5 to 10 shoots. Take off all the leaves (you can use these later to make a tea and drink it yourself).

Furthermore, if you wish, add gentle bottom heat (around 21°C–24°C) will help most plants and is essential for many species. Mist cuttings regularly – condensation on the underside of the dome indicates adequate humidity.Due to its name, many growers assume that you can add some rooting powder in the soil to speed up the existing root growth. Although you can put rooting hormone on roots in the soil, it is unlikely to improve root growth. Rooting hormones will speed up the process of propagation and root development almost 50 per cent faster in some cases. Remove the excess of the rooting hormone powder – simply tap the cutting on the rim of the container. In nature every plant has plant hormones found in stem and root tips that promote cell division and accelerate root growth. The element that controls plant development is called Auxin. The most common Auxin naturally present in all plants is indole acetic acid (IAA), chemically it is a weak organic acid. All you need to do is remove some side shoots from your mother plant using a sharp blade (preferably a scalpel). Make sure that the cut is at an angle and use sterile equipment to reduce the likelihood of infection. Open your Clonex bottle and pour some of the rooting gel into a separate container. Dip the new cutting into the rooting gel, then insert it into a moistened rooting plug and leave inside a propagator until rooted.

IBA is a natural rooting hormone found in majority of plants that promotes root development. To derive it from the Willow tree many growers recommend to soak the bark in water to make a Willow Water also known as Willow tea. How to make your own rooting hormone? To make a natural stimulant to promote root growth you need to take ground cinnamon and dip the end inch of the cutting into the powder covering the surface completely. Can I use apple cider vinegar as a rooting hormone? Exploring what works best for you and your plants is a fun and exciting process and we wish you all the best in your propagation journey! In a separate container, pour a small amount of Clonex rooting gel and dip the cutting right after being separated from the plant. Next, dip the cutting into Clonex about 15 mm. Place the cutting into the propagation medium just deep enough to support the newly planted cutting. As soon as cuttings are inserted, they should be misted with tepid water and placed into a propagator. Next, mix the two ingredients A and B together until they are both cooled. Then mix them in the largest container. While the viscosity of the solution will increase exponentially, the result is the same: a great rooting gel at a fraction of the cost. Unlike commercially available rooting gels, you can make your own and save 98 percent of the cost. Take your time and experiment! Willow water

In this article we are going to go through the 7 best rooting hormones for plants that are available in the market, the types of rooting hormones available, alternatives for rooting hormones and the differences to consider before purchasing your best rooting hormone for your plant children.

The easiest way to make the gel is by mixing it in a blender or food processor until all of the clumps are gone. You can also mix it by hand—just make sure that you don’t overdo it and end up creating air bubbles in your mixture. If you do get air bubbles, just let them dissipate before using the gel on your plants. You’ll want to apply this mixture directly onto your plant’s stems as soon as possible after making it so that they can take advantage of its effects immediately! This simple, all-natural liquid is perfect for rooting your cuttings. Willow branches are readily available in most garden centers. To make willow water, simply boil some branches and water in it. Leave the cuttings to soak for 24 to 48 hours, and then strain off the water. Willow water is odorless, and can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two months. Alternatively, you can store the liquid in ice cube trays for easy access and storage. You can use spit to make your own rooting hormone. Simply collect the spittle from a clean bowl, plate or cup. This solution will coat the cuttings better and will prevent bacteria from getting onto the stems. Dip your cuttings into the solution for at least two months before you use it. This is a cheap alternative to commercial rooting hormone. Make sure to follow the recipe as closely as possible to get the best results. Dip the cutting end directly into the container and stir it in rooting hormone powder until it covers the bottom inch.

Clonex

ROOT!T Rooting Gel is a revolutionary product that has replaced the need for traditional hormone rooting powder. This gel contains no hormones and relies on a physical mode of action to work. First, crush an aspirin tablet with a pill crusher. Make sure to crush it with enough pressure so that it breaks down into powder. You can also smash the tablet with a hammer and then mix it into the water. Next, dip the cuttings into the aspirin mixture to accelerate the rooting process. Make sure to submerge the cuttings in the aspirin solution for two to three hours before transferring to the next step. Let the Willow water stand for at least 2 days and 2 night in a dark place. Transfer the liquid into a new jar, separate the liquid from the branches with a sieve. Dip the cuttings one by one before planting. Additionally, in my own personal experience of using the powdered rooting hormone, it lasts really long, it works like magic on my plants when I choose to propagate them and it isn’t too expensive. All rooting hormones should get the job done well enough for you to want to use rooting hormone again.
