About this deal

He truly plays the role of a grieving father quite masterfully, so much to where you begin to feel his sadness and pain, it's simply brilliant. He does get a 1-up on her at one point and it’s a great little moment, you’ll cheer him on and then realise you’re genuinely terrified for his safety. Katherine is well respected medial professional that is until she goes home where both her and her husband have been home schooling their only son Andy who has a number of medical conditions. So much in fact that, the caring demeanor of his mother suddenly takes a turn from sweet yet tired to a more domineering almost "Annie Wilkes like persona".

The film’s underlying is a positive one; despite the unhappiness felt by many in the film they all act unselfishly, or at least that’s probably what they’re telling themselves. Also, there are twists and turns elegantly weaved in to the story to keep you on your toes, preventing Can’t Come Out To Play from being as predictable as you may think. The psychopathy of Andys mother is so awful it’s hard to watch at times but the performance is truly commendable. As the young pair grow ever closer, Charlie’s mother (Morton) becomes increasingly concerned for her sick boy and obsessive in her quest to shelter him from harm. Tension is built up effortlessly and, at times, it is the screaming silence that speaks louder than any words could.

The film premiered on October 19, 2013 as part of the Chicago International Film Festival and was screened on July 21, 2014 in Canada as part of the Fantasia International Film Festival. The script seems a little thin in places and the characters of Maryann’s Grandparents could have been fleshed out (and acted! but if you're painting while in lockdown, you'd better off watching it dry than seeing this horrible waste of money and effort.IM NOT A FAN OF HORROR so this suited me fine, as there is no gratuitous stuff more generally linked with the horror genre, as scare tactics. Overall, the whole cast are spot-on and deliver great performances and they do drive the film forward.

In her new neighbourhood, she befriends Andy (Charlie Tahan), the boy next door, whose parents keep him confined to their house due to his serious illness. However, Maryann's visits continue in Katherine's absence; she even takes Andy outside to play baseball. The Harvest (released as Can't Come Out to Play in Europe) [1] is a 2013 American horror thriller film released by IFC Films that was directed by John McNaughton.I give Can't Come Out to Play an okay three out of five stars and recommend it for Monday night viewing. This is clearly NOT for the less CONTEMPLATIVE VIEWER, as evidenced by the baffling reviews perceiving it as slow. Well, something is seriously amiss in the boy's home and it soon becomes clear that his mother is doing something to him. For me it was an hour and twenty minutes well spent and I will be definitely recommending it to friends and family and of course to all you kind souls bothering to read my take on this truly underrated movie. The most terrifying aspect of the film comes from this harrowing performance by Samantha Morton, who plays the doting, loving and obsessive mother.

A TV weatherman is recruited by government scientists to help contain powerful freak winds before they converge and destroy the planet. I can see the reason for that but actually it is quite different as you'll see from the twist at the end (which I did see coming but was still a fantastic idea). Starring Michael Shannon (Man of Steel, The Iceman) and directed by John McNaughton (Wild Things), a mentally unstable physician (Samantha Morton) keeps her dying son completely secluded from the outside world in a bid to preserve what life he has left. It is disclosed that the heart transplant, that is about to take place, is for the real Andy, Katherine and Richard's biological son. That incident, introduces us to Katherine (played by Samantha Morton) who is caring for her sick invalid son, Andy (played by Charlie Tahan) alongside her husband (played by Michael Shannon). The movie had its world premiere on October 19, 2013, at the Chicago International Film Festival and follows a young girl ( Natasha Calis) who befriends a seemingly lonely and confined boy her own age, only to fall afoul of his mother.
