About this deal

There are three types of fluoride: sodium fluoride, sodium monoflurophosphate and stannous fluoride. Another method for whitening is the use of a film that coats the teeth to provide an optic whitening effect. Great product UK Government is centralising and standardising additives to our water supply across all water boards = more fluoride we are going to consume.

Whether they use natural or chemical ingredients, it’s exactly the same thing from a dentist's perspective. You may also want to use one that’s not bactericidal, such as anise (which you’ll find in my Kid’s DIY Toothpaste recipe). Hypoallergenic, natural fluid for daily oral hygiene, rich in herbal extracts (sage, mint, rosemary, cloves) and soothing allantoin. Many people – especially those who brush well – don’t need extra active ingredients apart from fluoride. Intrinsic staining happens inside your teeth and can be caused by trauma, certain medical treatment or excessive childhood fluoride consumption (but this is rare in the UK).

Fluoride infiltrates the enamel’s surface and reaches areas that brushing can’t – providing you brush for around two minutes – making the tooth surface harder (remineralising) and more resistant to attack by sugar-loving bacteria. If the skin inside your mouth peels easily, you get frequent ulcers, or your teeth are sensitive, consider switching to SLS-free toothpaste.Sodium lauryl sulfate doesn’t just irritate delicate gum tissues, it can also increase the risk of tooth sensitivity for some people. More and more of us are now looking to explore natural oral care, from toothy tabs to charcoal-infused toothpaste – and luckily it’s never been easier to try out a chemical-free clean.
