About this deal

The Theater is built with an ultra-short throw DLP laser system that has a ratio of 0.23:1 allowing it to produce up to a 150” display from 49 cm. The Sport was fantastic, working alongside the MEMC to provide a smooth and stable image with zero ghosting or stuttering. The Theater has been eloquently designed and will be a great addition to any set-up around the home. Formovie has done a great job at creating a projector that is tough, durable and wonderful to look at. As the name suggests, Rooftop Film Club has garnered a reputation for hosting films outdoors in memorable locations. The team is now hosting classics such as Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Footloose, as well as If Beale Street Could Talk on a 12m screen at Alexandra Palace, until 31 July. Keeping this corner of the Scottish Highlands supplied with Hollywood staples, this new two-screen cinema is a far-flung jewel in the country’s cine-crown. It’s the brainchild of local entrepreneur Angus MacDonald, who set about restoring a picturehouse to his home town in the style of a bothy (or Highland shelter). The corrugated roofand wood-burning stove lend a satisfying sense of history; the whizz-bang laser projectors and sound keep things cutting edge on screen. Phil de Semlyen

The whole process from start to finish was excellent thanks to Chris who was so helpful. We had a limited budget and despite this we were treated like we were spending a lot more than we were.

Exactly I know that even if it is a very good UST the Formovie will never match the image of my 83A90J but watching movies or series on a 120 inches screen is something else. This gem occupies what was once a Victorian train station in the Yorkshire town of Richmond, and if you look closely you can still spot part of the old platform beneath one of its screens. The last train passed through in 1968, and since reopening as a cinema in 2007, it’s the movies that do the transporting. Inside, you’ll find a keen sense of film history and a purist’s approach to the medium, with 35mm presentations and French film fests, as well as the latest releases in 7.1 Dolby surround sound. It’s very much a something-for-everyone kind of place. Phil de Semlyen How to support The Magic Lantern : Join the mailing list or pop along for a movie if you’re in the area.

Formovie Theater 4K UST Triple Laser Projector

Formovie’s Theater is a great new device that really pushes performance levels you should expect from an Ultra-short throw projector. It will still take up a fair amount of space, but a lighter, more compact build grants it that much more versatility over its competitors. The projector is housed in a very sturdy plastic case that not only feels durable and robust but looks highly premium. The colour was especially beautiful and the projector allows you to calibrate it with ease. I was equally impressed with the contrast and saturation which wasn’t washed out or pale compared to others out of the box. Put it on the poster: Don’t go telling everyone, but the BFI’s Reuben Library is a lovely quiet central London spot to work from, where nobody will pressure you into spending fifteen quid on a flat white and a sad little sandwich. Put it on the poster: ‘Birk’ is Scots for birch tree – the cinema has a proud tradition of environmental consciousness that extends to a monthly Climate Movie Night.
