About this deal

The heatsink looks very big out of the box and I did have a few doubts if it would fit inside my case (Cooler Master Masterbox MB530P). After each testing, we let the temperature inside the case to stabilize for 10 minutes to ensure that the temperature inside the case is back to normal. Optimale Kompatibilität: Die asymmetrische Konstruktion sorgt dafür, dass RAM, Gehäuse und PCIe-Komponenten problemlos Platz finden. As the lower fins are recessed on both sides of the heatsink, compatibility is excellent on both Intel and AMD sockets. Wondering if reducing the 14900k to 200W is a solid move for longevity with the air cooling(i dont care that it would be on 92% performence).

I think the D15S by adding the second fan will be more expensive than the D15 because the PCIE clearance on the D15S.The NH-D15S compared to the original has an asymmetrical design with a single fan, thanks to which it clears the top PCIe slot on most micro-ATX and motherboards for superior component and RAM compatibility. runs super hot once overclocked and it really puts a lot of stress into any modern CPU cooler that's out there. Additionally NH-D15S is useful in some niche situations, like some old Intel HEDT motherboards with non-standard PCI-E placement, some new motherboards that don't have the M.

Compared to the award-winning NH-D15, the S-version uses an off-set, asymmetrical layout and a single instead of dual NF-A15 fans. Most CPU coolers have 6 heatpipes but the Silver Arrow SB-E Extreme is the only cooler that we have in our lab that has eight heatpipes. In the chart below we have sorted each CPU cooler from highest to lowest by the maximum amount of airflow they move in CFM. Well, there are good reasons but when you look at the performance of the Noctua NH-D15S CPU single fan cooler, a good solid heatsink may not need two fans to work well, it just needs one good. Despite its size we couldn't seem to get the Noctua NH-D15S to perform as expected on our Test Rig, why we just don't know!

First off, apologies if this question sounds silly but I just wanted to check with the wider community for advice. At the same time, the single fan setup and recessed lower fins guarantee 100% RAM compatibility with memory modules of up to 65mm height. The connections of the heat pipes and fins are soldered and the plates are additionally braced at the edges.

Tailored to provide superior RAM and PCIe compatibility, the NH-D15S is an asymmetrical single fan version of Noctua’s renowned flagship model, the NH-D15. As a rule of thumb, if the fan overhangs the RAM, the maximum CPU cooler height specification of the case must be at least the size of the fan plus the height of the RAM minus 7mm (accounting for the height of the socket and CPU). Thanks to its recessed lower fins, the NH-D15S provides 65mm clearance for RAM with tall heatspreaders or RGB illumination, making it compatible with most high-end modules on the market. Topped off with the renowned SecuFirm2™ multi-socket mounting system, Noctua’s enthusiast-grade NT-H1 thermal compound and a full 6-year manufacturer’s warranty, the NH-D15S chromax. They mention that it looks excellent, has no problems fitting, and the heat plate is extremely well finished and machined.Renowned, award-winning NF-A15 140mm fan with Low-Noise Adaptor and PWM for automatic speed control: full cooling performance under load, whisper quiet at idle!
