About this deal

System 2: Sony STR-DV10 A/V receiver with Paradigm Cinema 220 on-wall speakers and Cinema Sub, Google Chromecast (2nd generation).

The final nail in the quality coffin is a cruel one: Despite its support for MQA via Tidal Connect, the CS1 is not a full MQA decoder — it needs an app like Tidal to help it out — so you won’t be able to play any MQA files you might have in your personal library at their better-than-CD-quality resolution. So… finally getting to the point… Is there an app for iOS and Windows to enable me to stream music from the Uniti Core to the CS1? NAD’s affordable CS1 Endpoint Network Streamer lets you easily add high-resolution music streaming capability to any stereo or home theatre system. But its dependence on third-party services and its lack of a companion app severely limit your ability to work with it on your own terms, making it hard to recommend when other products on the market can do more and sometimes cost less.

IMPORTANT – DOWNLOADING ANY SOFTWARE AND/OR PROGRAM, OR DOCUMENTATION ONLINE, INDICATES YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THIS AGREEMENT. Founded in 1972 and now sold in over 80 countries, NAD Electronics is renowned for its award-winning line of high-quality components for audio, home theatre and custom installation applications. Upon further listening, there is no sonic advantage over the yamaha DAC, they both sound much the same to me, and I'm years passed that level of critical listening to be bothered to compare them that thoroughly.

Unfortunately, Bubble did not recognize the CS1 as a DLNA-compatible device, so it defaulted back to Chromecast. Each enclosure contains a 5″ natural-fiber hybrid woofer and a 1″ metal-alloy dome tweeter, powered by a 120Wpc class-D amplifier in the primary speaker. You can connect the CS1 to your home network via Wi-Fi or hardwire its LAN Ethernet port to your network router or an access point. Qobuz only works with Chromecast with an Android device (on mine anyway), but then I can't get it to stream to any DLNA connected device in my LAN so maybe it's the app. The idea behind this CS1 is that it can be easily integrated with an existing legacy system without streaming technology.

dual-band Wi-Fi, and Ethernet, and features support for Apple AirPlay 2, GoogleCast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and Roon. Certification for network sharing via DNLA/UPnP protocols expected to be complete with retail available of CS1 in March 2023. Upgrades, modifications, or repairs to this program or documentation will be strictly at the discretion of NAD. The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user, or for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network. My jaded ears cannot distinguish between WAV and FLAC (and there is academic evidence to suggest that the vast majority of people can’t), so I can sit back and enjoy the music, rather than fret over the barely discernible technical differences. This was true whether I used the streamers’ digital or analog outputs, so if the CS1’s DAC is of arguably higher quality than the ones in either of the other streamers, I guess my sound system (or my ears) weren’t up to the task of being able to tell the difference. And according to NAD’s press release, support for DLNA/UPnP streaming is expected to be in place by the time the CS1 goes on sale in March 2023 — but BYO UPNP app. Upon termination you will destroy the program or documentation and all copies you have made of them. From my understanding, the Uniti Core should appear as a network server via DNLA/UPnP, which the NAD is compliant with (excuse the poor Inglish! File network server access has been delightfully easy, I’ve been using my Naim UnitiServe with mConnect to brilliant, stable, and faultless effect.
